The National Council of Phi Kappa Pi is looking to establish a new chapter in Ottawa. This is an unprecentented opportunity to be involved in the creation of an organization that will last into the future.
The information below concerns the guidelines for the establishment of this new chapter. If you are interested in more detail, please contact us immediately.
The opportunity to leave a lasting mark on your alma mater does not come along frequently. The founding of a chapter of Phi Kappa Pi is just such an opportunity.
I was personally involved in the refounding of the Alpha Beta Gamma chapter at McGill University in Montreal in 1990. It was a tremendously exciting and valuable experience for all of us who were involved. For many of us, membership has helped continue our connection to the University over the past few years since graduation, and will likely do so for our entire lives. Many of our older members remain involved with their University in a way that would be difficult without the fraternal connection.
The Alpha Beta Gamma chapter, now six years later, has inducted almost 100 new members and at present, Phi Kappa Pi is the strongest fraternity at McGill. With strong and growing greek societies at Carleton and Ottawa U, an increase in Canadian nationalism on all University campuses, and a firm and active commitment from our National Council, the time seems to be ideal for a repeat of the success of Alpha Beta Gamma and for the establishment of a chapter of Phi Kappa Pi in Ottawa.
Phi Kap is a great place - a diversity of membership, a strong sense of pride in Canada, lifelong bonds of fellowship with your brothers. The establishment of a chapter poses significant challenges - but the rewards are a tremendous sense of pride, a connection to the university, a sense of creating something lasting. Take the challenge - help found a chapter of Canada's Only National Fraternity - Phi Kappa Pi.
Here's to a great start to a new chapter of Phi Kappa Pi in Ottawa!
Regards,

The National Council of Phi Kappa Pi is committed to the opening/reopening of at least four chapters of Phi Kappa Pi over the next 10 years.
Carleton and Ottawa U is our first expansion attempt for several reasons:
Our current criteria for the establishment of a new chapter are as follows:
Our planned timeline provides for the formal establishment of the new chapter by the end of the 1996/97 academic year. This would give the new chapter the opportunity to mount a rush in the fall 1997. Assistance in planning and implementing the fall '97 rush would be provided over the summer to help ensure the success of the campaign.
