| What is Fushigi Yuugi? |
| Fushigi Yuugi or "Mysterious Play", is about two best friends (Miaka & Yui) who are worried about passing their highschool entrance exams. While studying in the local library one day they find a book, "The Universe of the Four Gods", and are sucked into a world similar to ancient China. Yui, however, gets sucked back into our world, and leaves Miaka in the world of the Book. Miaka is stranded there but with the help of Tamahome, she soon meets the Emporer of Konan (the country she is in) and becomes the Priestess of Suzaku, the phoenix god. She will then have 3 wishes granted. Yui gets sucked back in as well and becomes the Priestess of Seiryuu, the dragon god. Because of the fact that Suzaku and Seiryuu are enemies, Miaka and Yui become enemies as well. Miaka must now find the 7 Suzaku Seishi to summon the beast god and get her wishes granted. Along the way she falls in love, makes new friends and enemies, must fight her best friend, and study! |
