| By Kricket Lets take a stroll down memory lane. What did I do this weekend? A lot, and I do mean a lot, of nothing. Myself like a lot of other people were snowed in and trapped like rats. And thats is why I am happy to be the proud owner of quite a few games consoles. Yeah I got them allha! But thats not where I want this segment to go. This past weekend the gang was supposed to go to the spot for some movie and gaming fun, but due to Mother Nature and her son Old Man Winter they decided to pay the eastern seaboard a visit. All I can say is if people cant drive when there is no bad weather, what in the hell makes you think they can drive in the snow. Stay the hell home and wait till the snow melts, oh yeah but if you dont have any food, its not my fault I told your ass to have some ready, dumbass. But thats not what this is about, this past Monday Aaron, Ryan, Steve, and myself did what we do in our spare time. Eat food (Five Guys burgers and fries), watch violent s#!t on TV (24), and play games. Now this is when it happened. Aaron pulled out his PS2 to show me what .hack was all about. It was ok to me, but with so many other rpgs out there I may never get to play it. But what he did pull out after that? He had me thinking back to when we used to play games in the back of the store till 2 and 3 in the morning. I dont know how I missed it when he opened the bag, but I guess I had my mind on .hack (hack and cough) ha ha. It was my old friend Grand Turismo 3 (Playstation 2), in my opinion this is one of the best racing games ever. Aaron popped it in and away we went. This was one of the big reasons I have a ps2, the game is smooth and at the same time it is rough. The gameplay is the pinnacle of racing, either with the MoMo (Logitech racing wheel) or the standard controller its a blast to play. We had 4 races and split 2 apiece, but I had to stop because the rust was showing. But the overall experience was one I cant ever forget. From the graphics to the way you can tune your car, this gaming experience should be had by all. Watch out for the black GT-R 34, its a mysterious car and no one knows who the driver is but you can ask Aaron about it. After that ass-kicking experience (Aaron again) we went even further back in time to Ace Combat 4(Namco). I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at Weadon (sniff sniff), and Aaron stopped by whats that? oh its ace combat 4 is it any good? I like it, and that was the beginning of that. He was hooked. The next day he went and bought the game and disappeared from sight, talking about yellow 13 or some s#!t. He came back 2 weeks later with a beard and he looked like he didnt wash too much while he was gone. He stepped through the door and proclaimed that he had finished it. I thought to myself, he looks like a P.O.W who was M.I.A for weeks. He put his hands on my shoulders and told me the story of monolith and the yellow squadron. Of course I didnt believe him. He went on and on about the single player game, until I said, what about the 2 player game? His response bring that s#!t on and so I did, I got shot down. I got shot down a lot, and I dont think I won a game the whole night. And last Tuesday was no exception, I still lost (damn) but it is a phenomal game only thing this game is missing is chaff to get the damn missiles off your back. The planes and the environments in the game look realso damn real that you actually get the feeling of flying (at least I do). I watch the replays and think damn Im good, its not that Im good but the A.I. is weak. You need to play somebody else to truly enjoy this game, and to let the s#!t talking begin. These two games represent some of the best 2-player experiences any one can have on the Playstation 2. Yes, there are many others but these are the ones we were playing and after doing so I felt a little like Mary J. Blige, reminiscing on the love. |
