| Just wanted to check in real quick and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. This year I will be breaking from tradition. What is that traditin you ask? Typically for Thanksgiving I've been on my own here in the D.C. area. My family's in Oklahoma and my friends have thier own families to celebrate with. Also every year my employer gives me a 25$ gift card to one of the local grocery stores to use for T-Day. Since I was on my own I started the tradition of purchasing two of the largest, freshest steaks I could buy for 20-25$ complete with the necessary trimmings. I would marinate them for a day and then on T-Day I would grill them and enjoy one on Thursday and the other on Friday. Over 2 pounds of steak in two days is alot to be thankful for. Well this year it seems my friends Ryan and Erka are either being ditched by their families or just happen to be free this T-Day. So we agreed to do dinner at my house. My employer's gift card will be providing us with a 14 pound turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. My friends are providing drinks and dessert. This will be my first time to cook a turkey so I'm a little excited about it. I always enjoy cooking new things, especially some form of animal or fowl. I have a meat thermometer handy so I'm sure no one will get salmonella or anyhting like that. Also one of my coworkers took me through the turkey cooking process step by step to ensure nothing goes wrong. The box is locked, the oven's prepped...it's turkey time!!! Of course I'm sure the rest of my friends will be available to help deal with the leftovers over the long weekend. There will be much turkey to go around. My place will become T&A for a few days. Hehehe...T&A. On the gaming front I picked up both Final Fantasy X-2 and Project Gotham Racing 2. Both are awesome sequels. Mmmmm Yuna and Rikku. Mmmmm Ferrari Enzo. Mmmm Yuna and Rikku posing with a Ferrari Enzo............................Where was I? Oh yea, games. It appears that the holiday season is pretty much set as far as big name titles. Here is a quick list of games I recommend either renting or purchasing for the holiday season. Prince or Persia: The Sands of Time - any system (at only 10 hours, I suggest renting) Final Fantasy X-2 - PS2 (buy it) Project Gotham Racing 2 - Xbox (buy it or at least rent it for a couple of weeks) Mario Kart Double Dash - GC (either rent or buy-recommended for a group) Super Mario 4 - GBA (c'mon, it's only 30$) Sword of Mana (more SquareEnix love for your GBA) Jak II - PS2 (fun, but difficult, platformer - renting is fine) Crimson Skies - Xbox (buy it if you have Xbox Live) These titles should hold you over until we see some uber-titles starting next year. Like Halo 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Grand Turismo 4, Starcraft: Ghost, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and many others. So Happy Thanksgiving and pass the gravy. |
