| Now I would like introducing the King of all mech games (yes its the daddy bear). Steel Battalion, now here is a game that before it came to pass was dissed, laughed at, shunned by most. Why do you ask? The price, it was the price people. No one thought a 200-dollar game would sell, that if you purchased this game you were either nuts or some die-hard capcom fan (yes I am). But that wasnt it for me. I did my homework, read about the game ask the right questions and even went to my neighbors house to play the import. And all the rumors I heard were false. False you hear me, people telling me why would you buy a game like that, its the price of a system (so what). Youll be sorry after you beat the game in a week or so (yeah right), and my favorite: youre crazy! I would never buy something like that. Yeah right (I see most of the people that said that now want one). Im not teasing them but it is funny to me, I could be like I got some ice cream, I got some ice cream. But Im not (hehehe) to me its not really a game! Its more like an experience Ive been waiting for. All I can say is DAMN. This game rocks. Its not the best looking, the sound is above par. The real meat and potatoes of this game is the huge 40+ button controller and three foot-pedals. This is where the game gets its high price point; I have never been this addidictad to a game before (and I have a lot of games). The explosions, the metal, the destruction, I get wood just thinking about it. The controller takes up all extra space on my computer desk. With 23 missions this is by far the best mech simulator I have ever played (and only armor core comes close though). It has it all from ground units I can shoot with a 80 to 140mm gun to a battle ship I get to dismantle. Woohoo! Fun for all. There is a slight learning curve that takes at least one hour in order to get acquainted with the game. The biggest fact about this game is the realism, if you dont eject in time you die, your character has just bit the dust and guess what, and yeah you guessed it, you have to start over from the beginning (it sucks). But I like the way they did that. Oh and if you run out of supply points (points used to buy new mechs) you get put behind a damn desk. Decommissioned ha, it happens a lot. So most people and I wont be beating this game for a while. What it boils down to is its a real challenge to pilot something this big (its like someone said, giant vertical tanks are the future so lets train people without them knowing it). After playing this game I do feel like I have accomplished something, and I find that a little strange. I know its a game but I know it could be so much more. On the Kricket scale this game gets the highest mark, a 5 KB! | ||||
