A GOTHIC ART

I wanted to
  hide away
In this burnt up place
  far away.

The match still lit
  on the floor,
The smell of death
  I've taste before.
And you just can't
  hide from him,
You return to him
  time again.
About time now
  that you learned
How easily
  that flesh can burn.

In this play
  you call your life,
The lead role played
  a Bloody Knife.
The taste of blood
  a welcomed site,
Moving on
  from loss of life.

Isolated
  in the crowd,
Hear the Silence
  turn around.
The Wind screams
  out your broken name,
You didn't hear
  and turned away.

By yourself,
  but not alone
A taste for Hate
  that they condone.
Run away
  to Anywhere,
But you can't see
  that they dont care.
Deep inside,
  a Silenced Hush,
This mind, emotion
  now lay crushed.
Tossed aside,
  burnt and used,
Everything
  begins to fuse.

Piecing together,
  through dim light,
Through trembling hands
  and tear-filled sight,
Pieces of
  your shattered heart
Still unmended,
  a Gothic Art.

PHANTOM PROMISE
A chair remains vacant again,
Pacing the floor, dwelling of Then.
A path that sleepless feet have worn,
Between Realities, a mind is torn.

A bed unused in four straight nights,
Take mindless wanders, alone in fright.
Waiting for Rest that never comes,
Dreams and hopes are slowly undone.

A path to Sanity, entwined in maze,
All vision and judgment smothered in haze.
Stumbling through your forsaken kingdom,
For the Phantom Promise of your mind's freedom.

Save this soul from tortured alone,
Still falling through a Shattered Unknown.
Grasping and reaching for Something to hold,
For someone to save it from the Cold.

But no hands reach out to save from Doom
A Hopeless Cause, who's fate still looms.
But what's this life with Them concern?
No Deference to help can they discern.

So they let this soul, this life, to fall,
Now Darkness upon this mind does maul.
Nothing is left worth caring for,
And the Cycle continues, forever more.

DEATH AND DAWN
A heart that died so long ago,
Which life and blood once through it flowed,
Now lies inert inside this chest,
Long before my soul shall rest.

Wandering through the dark alone,
What lies beyond cannot be known.
The darkness shrouds this tortured mind,
The things once known now undefined.

Shadows of nightfall move about,
All logic and reason go without.
As I stumble toward my certain fate,
The Beasts of Darkness lie in wait.

Watching and wanting, waiting to strike,
So eager to feast on the blood of the night.
Now the prey unaware, their target in sight,
They attack for the kill; no chance to fight.

Slash at my chest, tear bloody wounds,
Devour my heart, my worthless doom.
Then a sudden stillness; they disappear,
And nothing is left but sharpest fear.

A deafened silence then fills the air,
And in the darkness, alone I stare.
Nothing within, all vanished and gone,
I lie between both Death and Dawn.

A hollow wound where my heart once lay,
So void and empty, it now remains.
But I feel it not, this change unaware,
For the emptiness was always there.

THE SADDEST SONG
The pain inside devours me,
A form of escape I cannot see.
Cornered by this vicious beast,
To end it now at the least.

Tortured, dazed, alone, and lost,
I wish you here at any cost.
But I was blind and let you go
That fateful day so long ago.

To see you now, how would it be
To hold and comfort here with me.
But now it all is dead and gone
As I lament the saddest song.

I weep in silence as i hear
This melody of a wasted tear.
But you will never know of this,
The song that sings of all I miss.

A touch, a smile, a love that glowed,
These things again I'll never know.
Deep inside a silenced hush,
This mind, emotion, now lay crushed.

This sound of silence deafens me
As I long for your heart's beat
To sing the song of you and me,
In a regretful serenity.

COLD AND DARK
Nothing left inside my heart,
But a lonely place, cold and dark.
Only one had dared to see,
But I coldly pushed him away from me.
Too scared to lend my fragile heart,
I kept it from him, far apart.

Afraid theyd crush it in their fist
And pour it out into the mist,
I couldnt trust the ones I love,
Even this one, sent from above.
I only wish I knew back then
The only cure for this was him.

Now its his heart thats been crushed,
Broken and lying in the dust.
Trying to keep from the pain within,
I caused even more destruction to him.
Watching the pain build in his eyes,
I saw the victim of my demise.

I die inside watching him
As he tries to rebuild what I killed within.
Piecing together, though dim light,
Through trembling hands and tear-filled sight,
Whats left of his once-pure heart,
Now empty and lonely, cold and dark.

FRIENDS OF YESTERDAY
Our time together has come and gone,
As we knew it would.
I thought we could be friends like before,
I only wish we could.

I live too far away to visit,
Or be close if I walk.
But a friendship can't be based upon
Friends who only talk.

I sit and think of yesterday,
Of how it used to be.
I wish we were together again,
And you were here with me.

FROM DAY TO DAY
From day to day I see you,
Nothing more than a friend.
It's when we're apart that I love the most,
It will be this way to the end.

From day to day I had all the chances
To say what I needed to say.
If only I had the courage to tell you
That I will always feel this way.

From day to day the time draws near
That we will part forever.
But the day your presence parts from my heart
That day will always be never.

UNSUSPECTED LOVE
I spent my whole life
Seaching for love.
Not the kind that is bought,
But sent from above.

I looked in the world,
And found the wrong places.
I looked in my life,
And found the wrong faces.

I came to a place
Where I thought it was pointless
To search for something
That seemed so useless.

As I turned to give up,
I gave my search a last look.
Then I saw someone new,
A face overlooked.

I never noticed it before,
But I felt something new:
I finally found the love
Of someone like you.

REGRET
Life goes on
Without our consent,
And we tell ourselves
It was time well spent.

But the day will come
When we look back,
And wish for the things
We thought we had.

TEARS
One day I ran out of tears,
The most horrible day of my life.
Everything went so wrong
When it was supposed to go so right.

I cried all day, and I cried all night
Until I ran out of tears.
But then I remembered a saying
And it helped release all my fears,

"Don't frown because it's over,
Smile because it happened."
It brightened my life,
Which before had been dampened.

I will always remember
The times that we had,
Through the thick and the thin,
Through the good and the bad.

I know you're not with us,
But I know you're not far,
As you watch from above,
As the angel you are.
