Magnetic Prayers

I remember when it was all simpler, images were simple ASCII things, just random collections of characters to form some simple art and sound was just the pathetic beeps that you could make from a pathetic speaker.

It seems now that life is more complex - ever folding in upon itself, morphing and adjusting into an amalgam of life and technology; of biology and electricity. Every where we turn complex fractals of what once was simple greet us in the unending pattern of computers. Once where conversation was enough to offer praise for the purity of an art-form within life we are now bound to consign our appreciation to this mass of random electrons, data pulses and magnetic prayers.

It is my hope that one day the cycle will be complete and the fractal perfect, that the interface between the biological and the electronic will be perfected. One day the neural pathways will connect directly to the random streams of electrons and islands of magnetic flux that is known as the internet. Then and only then will the ultimate in perfection be achieved.

Until then, the perfection is only found in the random sounds and noises we call conversation, the dark, ambience of the music and the sheer beauty of the imagined images. Lying in the dark with only the music around me I find perfection, but even that perfection is imperfect - the neuralities and electronic do not link directly, only through primitive sound systems that fill one wall of my room.

And yet, I hope....
