| Amos Hart works at a garage for 14 hours a day and comes home to his wife, Roxie, every night, very late. One night he comes home and sees a dead body on the floor (Fred Casely) and covers for Roxie when the police come. Although, once he finds out that Roxie has been cheating on him, he denies the whole story, sending Roxie to jail. Amos then finds out that Roxie needs $5,000 dollars to get off and rushes to get the money to Billy Flynn. When he finds out that Roxie is "going to have a baby," he rushed by her side once more but when she pays no attention to him, he starts to wallow in depression thinks that nobody notices him. Then Billy Flynn convinces Amos to divorce her because the baby might not be his but Amos gets tricked again on the stand in the courtroom into not divorcing her because she swore that the baby really was his. After the trial, Amos ask Roxie go home with him so they can have a family and take care of the baby together but tragically shuffles out of the courtroom all alone when he finds out that there really is no baby. "I want you to come home. You said you still wanted to... and the baby..." |
