| A Man At Last by Ash |
| Rising to his feet, Ash saw before him the apparition that was once his wife. "I'm not going to fight you." "Good." With that Bloodsong tore into his body. His flesh being ravaged and ripped from his skin. "B*STARD! YOUR SOUL! GIVE ME YOUR SOUL!!" Ash simply nodded. "Here." Closing his eyes, Ash realized how weak he was without drawing the demon blade, Stormbringer. He knew what would come of his decision but he no longer cared. Reaching down into his heart, Ash called forth his own soul. A small flicker of flame danced upon his body. The force of his life was fading. His body began to fail, his muscle crumbling within his skin. His effort redoubled, Ash focused further on the power of his own life. The fire of his spirit slowly grew till, without warning, it erupted. A blaze like the sun, and a flash of light seen the world over. Those present were momentarily blinded by it. When his friends sought Ash's whereabouts they found nothing. No trace he had ever been here. Ash stood in absolute darkness. Nothing but the emptiness surrounding him. Thinking to himself, he remember how, right before the eruption, his wife was once again his wife. Then, he heard it. A booming voice calling out of him. "You have defied fate and her grand design. What do you think you are?" "A man." With that Ash turned to leave. Looking up, hoping for something. He saw what he needed, stars. Giving a silent thank you to God, Ash left. "Where are you going?" "To find my silver star." "But, there are millions." "I know which one it is." "Really?" "Yeah. Second one on the right, and straight on till morning." With a smile Ash bent down, picking up an old 1920's style zoot hat. Placing it on his head, Ash found his direction and marched on. The hopes of love and peace in front of him and his fate behind him. "From now until the days when we are immortal." |
