good morning mrs fuckeduphoeeatingreatartly, and students of 9O, as you already know my name is raadad and i am here to give you some insight on global poverty. so first of all what is poverty? poverty is the state of being poor and not having the money for material needs or comforts. i rember asking some o you before if you thought you were poor. irronicly alot of people said they were but let me ask you this, do you know what being poor is, do you say that you are poor because your parents cant afford to buy you a atari and your best freinds parents can. for all of you who said you thought u were i want you to imagine how much it costs for you to live each day. for me i cost about 50 dollars, this covers 1.food 2.clothing. 3.transport 4.lesiure activities and other expenses. this may seem pretty ordinary for most of you but did you know that nearly half the people in the whole world live on just 2 dollars a day this may be very hard to beleive but most of of the world live in poverty. can you imagine living on just 2 dollars a day . like seriously 2 dollars cant eaven get you a 1/4 of a meal let alone last you a whole day. so that means a whole developing village could live off the same amount of money you get each day. poverty is a huge problem effecting humanity today so it leads you to relise how cost consuming it would be to egstingwish it. ironnicly it would take less than 1 whole percent of the amount of money that is spent on global weapons to put every child on this earth in a school. and did you know that if all the churches combined there assets togethere it could end world poverty for GOOD. but the churches have other problems like helping out the middle class overdramatic church go-ers. .. sodomastic monster to engulf more than half of the worlds population. well the main reason is somthing called structural adjustment. this means when a country borrows money from the world bank it has to take out money from things like schools, infrostructre hospitals ect. people dont relise the great impact structural displacement has on the economy, that is because it has only a few short term effects. for example if a country took money out of its resource management, the countries resources like coal oil wood and other things would get depleted faster so in many years to come after that country has depleted most of its resources it would have nothing to sell and there fore destroy there economy. if you are having trouble understanding it please look at it this way. visual thingy lets say you wanted a car. but you dident have the money to pay for it, so lets say you borrowed money from the bank to pay for it. now you must pay the bank back. and in order to do that you will have to take money out of other things like money for a new holiday, or a university degree. blah blah blah another reason for poverty in some countries is because of natural disasters, you should recall the asain tsunamie who left millions of people stranded without homes or any means to support themselves. a natural disaster can wipe out whole infrostrusctres and many of a countries assets, can you imagine how tromatising it would be if your home your source of money and all of your possetions were destroyed and to top it off you country couldent afford the cost of supporting you. every time a natural disaster hits it leaves alot of people in poverty unfortunatly there is no way of preventing this from happening. so how come no-one helps these people, or what about all those charitys who help the people in poverty. well first of all our world revolves around money and money is power, most people arnt about to give some of there power away to somthig taht they wount see any benifet from. so what about the charitys dont they do anything, of course they do but most dont do much for the poor on a longterm basis, instead people like amnesty international have international food drops on areas affected by poverty, but many people dont relise how damaging these food drops can be, well ok they all seem nice and thoughtfull by giving food to people who need it to survive but do you ever think about the small buissnesses like fruit shops in that area and how it effects them, if food is dumbed the main population wont have a reason to buy it any more, thus making less bussines prosper and subsequently making less bussnesses emerge and eventually this causes the country to spiral into more economical ruin so how do we help these people without making them poorer. there is an easy solution to this instead of giving people things like food money and clothing. a charity could make a clothing factory or a school that can teach people about agriculture and thus giving the people the ability to self support themselves. but sadly the answer is not as simple, because the people in poverty are very likley to die of malnutrition before they have a chance to utilize these skills this leads to another endless loop that troubles countries and charitys all over the world, and this brings me to the end of my speech, i want you to think about the thngs i have just said, think about the reasons why these countries are poor and you will relise it is all about bad decigions. these decigions are those that are made only in sight of the short term.if you dont think of the long term effects of major decigions in your life you have a great chance of ending up like one of these people. so kids try not to think about what would happen in 10 minuites or a day and think of what would happen in a year when making life effecting decigions thank you
