| (The Consequences) | ||||||||
| The outcome of this moral free-for-all leads to inevitable consequences for the family, some of which many be summarized as follows: ->Full-time working wives and mothers are stressed out trying to balance job, children and home. Contrary to their hopes, most men do not do 50% of the home chores and child-care. ->Women with long-term unemployed husbands find themselves the sole maintainers of the family and increasingly wonder, what is the use of a husband? Particularly if he is depressed, drunken and disillusioned by his inability to find work and self-respect. This situation also contributes to a high divorce rate. ->Increase in divorce and separation of parents leads to psychological problems of children. ->Children brought up with step-fathers, or with their mothers new boy-friends, are often the chief target of physical and sexual abuse, thus intensifying their emotional conflicts. -> Womens full time employment makes them unable to care for elderly parents at home, driving such parents to end their days living and dying alone, or being cared for in Old Peoples Homes. ->The loss of the traditional extended family causes working mothers to leave small children in day-care centers. This is no substitute for the one-to-one loving bond with the mothers. ->Parents, who do not have time for their children, tend to over-compensate by showering them with the latest toys etc. until they become spoiled and demanding. ->Teachers cannot cope with large numbers of undisciplined children who are the products of these homes. Verbal, physical and sexual abuse of teachers in school is now becoming increasingly common. ->Many alienated children turn to alcohol and drugs and become part of a violent and sexually promiscuous teenage culture spreading out from the cities into the towns and rural areas. This summarizes the downward spiral caused by the neglect and destruction of the family. Of course, its does not describe every family there are still loving and successful families with idealistic and morally sound children. |
