Seras stared at the Weyr around her. Though it was not very large for a Weyr, it certainly seemed that way to her. A bright, clear blue sky hung overhead, true to the Weyr's  namesake. It was beautiful.
She followed the brownrider, Zandy, inside, still staring around her. They entered the Hatching Sands. "They're beautiful!" Seras gasped, looking at the seven-or was it eight?-round shapes clustered around the smug-looking green mother.
"I think you might be able to stand for her clutch." Zandy whispered to her.
"Oh, really?" But then she stopped. "But, my father hates dragons. He'd never forgive me if I accepted a Search..."
Zandy shrugged. "Well then, there is one other way..."
Seras blinked. "What?"
"C'mon, follow me." The brownrider said as she left, and Seras hurried to catch up.

They came to a stop in front of a darker room which Zandy had called the abandoned area. Seras shuddered, but Zandy waved her into the dark room.
Two hulking shapes, both green, stared up at her. Seras was startled to see they were dragons. "What happened to your riders?" She asked the nearer of the two.
The green dragon snorted.
They abandoned us. They didn't want us, so they just left us down here. The green said bitterly.
I knew I shouldn't have believed P'f-Panfir, when he said he didn't care that I was a female dragon. The other green added.
Well, at least we learned one thing from 'em. The first green said, with an edge of mischeif in her voice. Never trust people with blue hair. Both dragons snickered.
"That's terrible!" Seras said. "How could anyone abandon a dragon?"
I don't know, but he did. I guess I'll just wait here until someone else comes, that does want me. Unless... The green looked up at her with hopeful eyes.
Seras' heart sank. "I'm sorry. I really wish I could, I do. But my father..."
Your father can't force to go home if you're a dragonrider. I'll protect you, Seras!
Seras smiled. "Really, Kinth?" The green dragon nodded. "Alright then. I'll be your rider, Kinth." She said, as she scratched her green's eyeridges. "And I won't leave you, I promise."
