Hatchling Weyrling
The day had started out normal enough. She, Daman, and Altair, a Dimar* friend of their's, were walking outside in the fields, not really doing much of anything. Altair was utterly confused about Daman.
She fought back a laugh. Just about everyone was confused when it came to Daman. After all, it wasn't often you saw a guy with both wings
and a tail.
Of course, winged humans were relatively common on Dimar, considering the fact that they lived high up barryds.** But not many of the humans paid to get a tail, too.
"Why would you want a tail? There's no point to it." Altair was saying.
Lili laughed. "He just likes it cause it makes him look more like a demon." She glanced at him. It was an old joke, his name basically meant demon, so people tended to joke about it. Daman, rather than being upset about it, went along with it. Now all he needed were horns..."Two out of three, Daman. Now you just need the horns."
Daman grinned. "Nah, I'm already a psi*, it'd be pointless."
"Never stopped you before..."Altair grumbled. "Hey! What's that!?"
Lili looked up, and saw a strange sight indeed. There were two Dimar-like figures in the darkening sky. It was too dark already to see them clearly, but they were obviously fighting.
Lili frowned. "Who are they? They're not from around here. And why are they fighting?"
"...I don't know, let's find out." Altair lowered a fore leg for Lili to climb onto his back. Once she was secure, He turned towards Daman. "You coming?"
"Of course," Daman answered. "Maybe I'll actually get to use these things." He motioned towards his wings.
After that, it got kind of confusing. For one thing, the strangers weren't even Dimar. While Dimar had scales and fur, these 'dragons' had smooth hide and red, faceted eyes.
Lili barely had time to scream as one of the dragons dropped, all but crashing into Altair, who had gone unnoticed.
Suddenly, she was somewhere dark and very, very cold. She passed out.
Lili woke to an extremely annoying sound. Daman, whistling incessantly.
"Shut up before I...do something really bad to you." She said weakly. She discovered she had a terrible headache. She wondered whether it was from the...whatever...they went through, or just from Daman's whistling.
That made her sit up. "What happened? Where are we? Are we dead? Where's Altair?"
Daman grinned. "Well, well, sleeping beauty's finally up.To answer you're questions, we were caught up in a fight between two dragons and taken 'between' with them, We are currently in Lantessama Weyr on Pern, We are very much alive, And I have no freaking idea where fuzz-lizard's got to."
Lili just stared at him. "What?" Daman sighed.

Several hours later, after everything was explained to Lili and they had met with the Weyrwoman, Daman snuck out, coming back in soon with four rocking objects. They looked suspiciously like eggs.
"What are those?" Lili eyed the hatching eggs, aware they were hatching and hoping they weren't dangerous.
Daman grinned. "Flit eggs. Acording to the locals, they make great pets. Here." He handed two of them to her, grabbing a large bowl of meat out of seemingly nowhere. "You keep feeding them, and they sorta...'Impress' you. I'm not quite sure how that works, though."
One of the eggs in Lili's arms suddenly burst open, causing her to almost drop it. A small black head appeared, and immediately latched onto  a large peice of meat. Lili smiled in spite of herself. "Hey now, come on. That's a bit big." She began tearing it into smaller peices, barely registering when a green flit joined the black.
Daman was busy with a white flit who was happily gorging, trying to think of a name. He didn't even notice the last egg, which hatched and, not finding food, wondered toward Lili.
The little golden colored fire lizard snatched at the meat, narrowly missing Lili's hand.
"Hey! What you doing, now? No need for that, there's plenty for all three of you." Lili smiled. They were kinda cute...
"Hey! That was mine!" Lili looked up.
"Well, apparently she's mine now." Daman glowered.
"Fine then. See you when the clutch hatches." Daman stopped. "Oh! By the way! I took the liberty of signing both of us up to stand as candidates. Hope you don't mind."
"WHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

*Dimar's are large, dragon-like creatures that are native to the planet Dimar. They are easily as intelligent as humans, and share cities with them. They have scales, and fur, mainly on their backs and on their belly.
**Barryds are giant, living tree-cities. They were built by the Dimar and thus, don't have any stairs. Often, the only way to get around is by flying. Through a form of genetic engineering known as Waters, They can change just about anyhting about them, most often color. Humans often pay Nila, the currency on Dimar, to get wings.
*Humans that have a small amount of psychic abilities are known as psi's. Dimars naturally have these abilities. They use their horns to communicate telepathically, rather than as a natural weapon.
