| It was a couple sevendays after Kasmaar had hatched, and he was already twice the length he had been as a hatchling, though still not yet full grown. The blue ceadra now had a dark blue crest adorning his narrow head, but that was not all. No, the snakelike ceadra had also grown a pair of dragonlike wings. It was obvious Kasmaar would be able to fly when he was fully grown. The wooden table which, sevendays ago, had held the spare hides and drawing of Lythir, now held a large tank full of water. Kasmaar chirped, swimming in the tank, his long, blue body slicing gracefully through the water. Kelduen looked up at the ceadra, smiling. He stroked the sleek, damp head that was poking curiously out of the water. "Hi, Kasmaar." The ceadra chirped, splashing water onto the table, and Kelduen. "Hey, stop that!" He laughed. Lythir appeared, chirping in greeting, and was answered by Kasmaar. The starry flit had taken on a motherly role to Kasmaar, treating him as if he were her own child. Kelduen smiled, scratching the flit's bony eyeridges. She chirped again, staring at something outside the window. Kelduen looked up, and was surprised to see a green dragon in the sky outside. A larger blue dragon appeared, and they began to spiral down to the ground. Kelduen frowned, wondering what dragons were doing here. Lythir screeched, startling him. He looked up to see that Kasmaar was missing from his water-filled tank. "Huh? Hey! Kasmaar, where are you!?" He heard a chirp from the doorway, and turned to see the halfgrown ceadra flapping his bright wings as he began to hover in the air. He was flying! "Oh, great. Of all the time's for him to learn to fly." Kelduen muttered. Kasmaar chirped and flew, still womewhat clumsily, out of the room, to the dragons outside. "Hey!" Kelduen yelled as he ran after the ceadra. "Kasmaar, get back here!" Grabbing the ceadra's long tail, he managed to capture Kasmaar. "What's wrong with you?" He muttered to the happily chirping ceadra. That's an interesting dragonchen you have there. Kelduen looked up, startled. A bright green dragon stood in front of him, staring at the blue ceadra in his arms. "Oh-I, I'm sorry. Kasmaar's a ceadra, actually." He stammered. Oh. My mistake. "Who's this, Maoith?" Kelduen turned, seeing a young woman, obviously the dragon's rider. "My name's Kelduen, miss. I didn't know the Weyr was searching." He blinked as the dragon and her rider glanced at each other. "Well, we're not from the Weyr. Or any Weyr. We're from a place called Cathair Utopia, on a planet called Danach. We are looking for candidates, though." She paused, as her dragon said something to her silently. The woman smiled. "And Maoith says you might be able to Imprint a dragon if you come with us." Kelduen brightened. "Really, you mean it?" The woman nodded. "Maoith and I will come back for you in a couple hours. Meet us here then." "Alright." Kelduen nodded, still shocked that he'd been searched. True, not for a Weyr, or even on this planet, but a dragon was a dragon, right? He smiled down at Kasmaar. "Well, Kasmaar. Looks like I'd better get ready, huh?" Kasmaar simply chirped in happy agreement. |
