He watched the rocking eggs, wondering which one was for him. Ash, his white fire lizard, was perched a distance away with Lili's three, Devaki, Ranee, and Nai...Nei...Well, however the green's name was pronounced.
The first to hatch was a small, pale blue dragon. A female, apparently.
The next was a bronze. It headed to a male candidate named Naeto.
Daman was so busy looking at the bronze dragonet that he didn't notice the male green dragon heading towards him. Lili pulled on his sleeve, pointing towards the green. Daman stopped, and just stared. The dragon was glowing. Dragons weren't supposed to glow!
the glowing green gazed at Daman's wings and his tail, and said I like you, I'm Duivelth.
The female green turned to Lili, waiting for her three fire lizards to land on her.
They both turned to leave with their dragons.
Later...
"Gah!!! Who'd have thought Daman could be so hard to elide?"
Lili hid a smile behind her hand, glancing at her sleeping green. "How about D'an?" She asked.
Daman glared at her. "There is no way I'm going to be called Dan."
"But I didn't say Dan, I said D'an."
"I don't see much of a difference." Lili rolled her eyes. "Okay, how about D'man?"
Lili snorted. "What, like 'You're Da Man'? That's what it sounds like. No way."
"Okay, how about just using the first three letters? D'a-"
"No!"
"Okay, okay, sheesh." Daman glanced at his groggy dragon. "Well, Duivelth, how do you think I should elide my name?"
Why don't you just let me go to sleep, Da'an?
"Da'an...It works."
