We are a new chapter starting here in Jacksonville, FL. Our esteemed Queen Mother is Betty Nell Morgan, otherwise known as Queen Ladybug.
We received our Charter on July 12, 2002. We had our first meeting on July 25, 2002. We had such a good time visiting and cooing over each other's new hats. Of course, there was lot's of food (any occasion is good for eating!). We have plans in the works for a small trip (the details to be worked out, yet). We are interested in a trip to Biloxi or maybe Savannah.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like any of the Sassy Belles will be able to make the women's conference in China this year. It sounds very exciting, but, since we are just getting started with our chapter, it's a little too soon for us to make such big plans.
The Queen Mother invited the Sassy Belles to a Bar-B-Q for Dan Wilensky, who is running for Circuit Judge here in town. The fete will be on August 22nd. Please contact me if you would like to attend.
We are very excited to have been invited to the Players by the Sea program on September 12. We are planning to attend and can't wait to meet some of the other Red Hatters! Sounds like an exciting evening.
Some of Sassy Belles will also be attending the Conference in West Palm Beach. We are attempting to work out our last minute details and get crackin! We had a small teaparty at Vice Queen Debra's house last Sunday to talk things over as far as driving, eating, etc. ...you know...all the important things. Especially the eating! : )
By the way, Joanne from Honey's fashions called the other day and they have their red hats in. I told her I would be sure to spread the word. She did say they were going fast...so, you better get in there if you need one!
I also found beautiful vintage red hats (and hats of every other kind) on e-bay today. The hats were really pretty, in good shape and not expensive at all. Some of them even came with hat boxes. You can look for them under "hats" or "vintage hats". Be sure to check them out at: www.ebay.com.
