We are a new chapter starting here in Jacksonville, FL. Our esteemed Queen Mother is Betty Nell Morgan, otherwise known as Queen Ladybug.
We received our Charter on July 12, 2002. We had our first meeting on July 25, 2002. We had such a good time visiting and cooing over each other's new hats. Of course, there was lot's of food (any occasion is good for eating!). We have plans in the works for a small trip (the details to be worked out, yet). We are interested in a trip to Biloxi or maybe Savannah.
We have been invited by the Red Hat Society here in Jacksonville to attend a reading by Rebel Lowery Covan at the Barnes and Noble on San Jose Blvd. We are planning to attend and we can hardly wait to meet the other Red Hatters in our area.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like any of the Sassy Belles will be able to make the women's conference in China this year. It sounds very exciting, but, since we are just getting started with our chapter, it's a little too soon for us to make such big plans.
The Queen Mother invited the Sassy Belles to a Bar-B-Q for Dan Wilensky, who is running for Circuit Judge here in town. The fete will be on August 22nd. Please contact me if you would like to attend.
