There have been three other Spyro games on the original PlayStation and now three on the Gameboy Advance. This game isn't related to the GBA games but starts just after the third PSone game, Year of the Dragon. Basically, what they say in the manual is what happens at the start: At the conclusion of the Year of the Dragon festival, young dragons from all over the Dragon Realms recieve their very own "dragonfly," a momentous event in the life of every dragon. Dragonflies, each with a unique personality and a kazoo-like voice, fly in from all over the Dragon Realms to be with their own dragon. Citizens from near and far come to witness this important event. With peace finally restored to the realms, the festival gets underway. Grand parade floats hover in the air, and the dragons celebrate as they await the arrival of the dragonflies. However, unbeknownst to the dragons, a sinister plot is about to unfold... (thus ends the manual) Then Ripto arrives and all the dragonflies vanish. This wasn't Ripto's plan and he goes off in search of them with his two sidekicks. Spyro then also goes off in search of them too. The game then begins. This guide is simply here to help you to find all 90 dragonflies hidden around the Dragon Realms in order to beat the game. I'm afraid I can't do the gems as well as they would be impossibly long to give directions to each one. =============================================================================== -----------------------------------[3]Updattes---------------------------------- =============================================================================== Version 1.2 - 10th August 2004 Hello again! This is about the first actual update I've done! I've upgraded the guides to amost of the Dragonflies now because it was really just a rough version that I sent in first so here it is with most of the mistakes ironed out! I d plan to eventually upgrade the guide to an actual walkthrough, but I won't be doing that for a little while. Heh, and I've also added my Spyro ASCII artwork that's on every other Spyro guide of mine. Version 1.1 Well what do you know? I finally got round to finishing it! As far as I know it's all complete and I've added a FAQ section so don't go emailing me about those questions no more. I've had enough of them! Any more questions? I will try to answer the emails as long as they aren't those questions there, and ones about gems! =============================================================================== -----------------------------------[4]Contaact---------------------------------- =============================================================================== DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT GEMS IN ANY LEVELS AT ALL! NOT EVEN CLOUD 9, IT IS ANSWERED IN THE FAQs SECTION OF THE GUIDE! I DO NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT GEMS! And if you sent me an email before 17th February 2003 and have not had an answer from my old address, it would be because I recently deleted all the emails there. In order to contact me by email use the following address: darkgta4(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk Don't send attachments to me as I won't open them and don't ask questions that are answered in this guide. If you have found something in the game and want to get recognised for finding that I will credit anyone who sends the info in (the first person to send it in) and if you see any info not included in this guide but should be then I will credit you with finding it. If you want to host my guide on your website or want to use parts of it then please at least email me to find out whether I care or not. I will not even bother opening an email that has a size of like 100K as that so obviously isn't an email from a nice concerning person (like you I hope) who just wants some help. So don't bother if you're going to send stupid stuff. Oh, and use a subject that has something to do with Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly as I am still getting loads of emails about Vice City so I don't really want to get confused with the two games. Thanks. It would also be greatly appreciated if you can tell me about any Dragonflies that I have got wrong as I can't check it all perfectly you know! Oh, and don't ask me about where gems are, I won't have any idea as I don't know where you have been and where you haven't so don't even ask! =============================================================================== -------------------------------[5]Basics + Gameplay---------------------------- =============================================================================== -------- |Controls| -------- Spyro ===== D-Pad - Move Around Left Analogue Stick - Move Around (recommended) Triangle - Hover (after gliding) X - Jump Square - Charge O - Fire/Ice/Bubble/Electric Breath L1 - Switch Breath R1 - Show Invetory X + X - Glide X + X + Triangle - Glide, Hover, Land X + Triangle - Headbash L2 + R2 - Wing Shield (after aquired) Square - Dive/Charge Underwater X - Paddle Underwater X - Jump onto Ladder Triangle + D-pad - Look Around Tank ==== D-Pad - Move Around Left Analogue Stick - Move Around X - Lower Gun Square - Raise Gun O - Fire Gun Triangle - Look Around L2 - Rotate Gun Left R2 - Rotate Gun Right R1 - Recentre Gun Plane ===== Up - Fly Downwards Down - Fly Upwards Right - Move Right Left - Move Left X - Fire Missiles O - Fire Guns Square - Accelerate L2 - Bank Left R2 - Bank Right UF0 === Up - Fly Downwards Down - Fly Upwards Right - Move Right Left - Move Left X - Tractor Beam Square - Speed Up O - Fire Energy Rounds Mantaray ======== Up - Swim Downwards Down - Swim Upwards Right - Move Right Left - Move Left O - Breath Net Square - Speed Up -------------------------- |How to Capture Dragonflies| -------------------------- To capture a dragonfly, all you need to do is use your Bubble Breath next to them and they will be captured within the bubbles and you got 'em. Sometimes they will run from you a lot but just chase em and at every chance blow the bubbles at them. --------------------------------- |Other Ways to Capture a Dragonfly| --------------------------------- Another way to get a Dragonfly for your collection, is to complete some sort of challenge for a character or box. Some challenges require a simple thing to be completed, ie finding a key for a locked chest, or something quite difficult like climbing a tower or controlling a tank. Unfortunately for you, I can't be bothered to go into detail with all the challenges to get the dragonflies so you'll have to complete them yourself. Most challenges are through a whirlwind portal which seems to take you to another level. They aren't to be confused with the end of level portal which is totally clear and just shimmers a bit. --------------------- |Portals to the levels| --------------------- The portals to the levels are quite well hidden and might not be that obvious to you to begin with. Here is a list of the locations of all the portals with their required number of dragonflies to open: Level: Dragonfly Dojo Location: This ones by a huge dragon and is a stone circle on the gorund next to it. The Dragon is up on a ledge and through a gateway to the right of the huge stone dragon that gives you your powers. Dragonflies needed: None Level: Crop Circle Country Location: Beyond the Lightning Breath Gate and it's on a shelf with a ladder up to it. Talk to the Farmer then jump on the UFO Dragonflies needed: 5 Level: Luau Island Location: In the bay area beyond the Lightning Breath Gate, jump onto the air balloon/flying boat. Dragonflies needed: 15 Level: Cloud 9 Location: On a platform in the main area of the level. Talk to the bear then jump into the whirlwind. Dragonflies needed: 25 Level: Monkey Monastry Location: This ones past the Ice Breath Gate, talk to the monkey and get on the balloon. Dragonflies needed: 32 Level: Honey Marsh Location: Beyond the Ice Gate and talk to the blue crocodile then jump onto the Honey Comb thing. Dragonflies needed: 45 Level: Thieves Den Location: Past the Ice Breath Gate, go through the candy arch and talk to the thief. Then jump on the magic carpet. Dragonflies needed: 55 Level: Jurassic Jungle Location: Past the Ice Gate, talk to the mouse in the first area and walk into the time-machine. Dragonflies needed: 65 OK, and just to let you know, the Ice Gate can be got through without the Ice Breath. Simply charge into the gate, just near to the lock to get through. =============================================================================== -------------------------------[6]Dragonflyy Guide------------------------------ =============================================================================== There are 90 Dragonflies for you to discover in the world of Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. I have arranged them by the description they get given in the Atlas to reduce confusion. Be warned, this is not a walkthrough, merely a little bit of help finding the dragonflies so don't expect a huge paragraph explaing exactly how to get to them, just a small description of their location is all that is given. There are exactly 10 Dragonflies on each of the 9 levels. ------------- |Dragon Realms| ------------- 1) Description: Hunter's Lesson Name: Bubbles Location: To the left of where you start the level, go round the corner and up to Hunter. A: To get them you have to go to the Clock Tower at the end of the level and climb up to the top of it, go out onto the ledge and glide around the huge thing to the right and onto the building. Q: Where do I find the breaths? A: In ya mouth! Oh those breaths. Bubble Breath: Right ahead of the starting point in Dragon Realms Lightning Breath: In Dragonfly Dojo in the reeds next to the 2nd big Dragon. Ice Breath: In Cloud 9 right ahead from where you start Wing Shield: Luau Luau Island on island opposite start Q: How do I beat Ripto? A: For the first fight you have two things to beat. First his ice barrier which you have to run up to, dodging the flames, and flame till it melts and he gets a fire one. Use the ice breath on that one. If you're in the second fight with him then there will be one last challenge. Dodge all the blasts until you hear him struggling and then lightning breath the stick which is stuck in the ground. Repeat till he's dead. Q: How do I get the kites in Dragonfly Dojo? A: Use the Ice Breath on the dragons and use them to jump up. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------[8]Arghh!----------------------------------- =============================================================================== I have newly set this section up to show just what I think this game needs to improve on. 1) When you crash into walls, why oh why does he have to speak so much and why does it take so long to get back up? Argh! 2) The loading times. They are the worst that I have ever seen for any game ever! They can last for five minutes sometimes, sort it out! 3) The worlds, or rather world. Why is there only one world? This is supposed to be a big game. All previous Spyro's (dunno about the GBA ones though) had at least three worlds which were all fun. This had one. And that's it. Argh! 4) Controls, or rather the lack of any. What is up with the stupid controls? They are the least responsive controls ever seen in any game ever! 5) The loading times, I've already said this but it really annoys me! All the previous Spyro's loaded within around 2s for each level, while this, a super fast nex-gen version takes a whole hour to load a simple mini level! Argh! 6) Bubble Breath, it is really rubbish. The dragonflies are next to impossible to catch and when you do you forget about the breath and attack an enemy and you fire bubbles? What sort of a dragon fires bubbles? 7) The slowdown, at everything that even looks like it could take up a bit of screen time it's like you're slowed down to 1 frame a second. 8) The boss, Ripto? Again? How original. I wonder where they could have got that from. They didn't even let you fight his sidekicks at all. 9) Hunter, what the hell is he doing here again? He has been the most annoying character of the series, ooh, all the help he gives, all he does is the same "Jump over and follow me" thing. Argh! 10) Moneybags, why oh why did they even bother to include him? He was in the game once, took 200 gems and you never saw him again. They even put him in the manual despite that. Plus what the hell is he wearing? Argh! 11) The tank! It's as slow as hell. The turning is rubbish, the firing is non- existant and you die after about two shots hit you. What was the point? 12) The races. OK, so who's clever idea was it to have it so that if you so much as missed the circle by a millimetre that you failed. Have they never heard of turning around? 13) The Atlas, couldn't they come up with a new idea? Gees, it's so old! 14) The way Sparx keeps telling you stuff over and over as it you're as thick as a plank of wood and can't remember how to go through a simple breath challenge thing, you Purple Putz! 15) Vivendi Universal Interactive, for selling out on us Spyro fans by selling the license to any old ames developer. Well that's it for now. There'll probably be some more stuff to come here so if you're reading this Equinoxe or Check6 or whoever made it, take note! And just to show I don't totally hate the game, here's what I liked: 1) The graphics, well there're a bit of an improvemnet but was it worth it just for the graphics? 2) Um... well, maybe Sparx's voice but even that got annoying after the first two times of hearing it go on about how Spyro is a Purple Putz. =============================================================================== ----------------------------------[9]Copyriight--------------------------------- =============================================================================== Copyright 2002-2004 dark52 (Alex Bates) This guide to Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly may not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. And just so that you know, just in case you missed it my websites are located: http://www.darkgta.tk http://www.darkspyro.tk The latest Spyro guides will be on darkspyro.tk and gameFAQs.com I have written several other guides for the Spyro games, including: Spyro the Dragon Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer Spyro: Adventure Spyro Fusion And I plan to soon write guides for the three remaining games, Year of the Dragon, Season of Ice and Season of Flame. I have fully completed every Spyro game ever made so far (excluding Spyro Fusion in which I have yet to fully collect all the cards, and I refuse to actually get two of both Spyro Fusion and Crash Bandicoot Fusion just to do so) so I should be able to write decent guides for all the games. With A Hero's Tail due out quite soon, the Spyro series should begin to gain back what it lost when Enter the Dragonfly was set upon us. Thanks for listening (or reading) goodnight. ===============================================================================
