A/N: So Im doing a what if story.

Harry Potter, Astra Knight, and the Chamber of Secrets

What if Astra came to Hogwarts in Harrys second year instead of his fifth? Would that have changed the way he perceived her? Would she come out different from the experience than she did in his fifth year? Would she have been his first crush and vice versa?

Chapter Two

The winter holidays were over and Leona and Max were back at school. Leona walked with Fern down the hallways to get to their next class, which was English.

Someone came up behind Leona. Leona! Wait a second!

Leona stopped and turned around. Jack Connor was a tall boy with red hair and green eyes. Leona knew that he fancied her.

Leona blushed and giggled as Jack nearly tripped over himself trying get to her past a small group of girls. Sorry Sorry.. He apologized as he nearly ran over one.

Jack what are you trying to do? Kill yourself? Leona giggled.

Jack blushed almost as red as his hair. N-No er He stared at his shoes a bit.

Really you need to learn some speaking skills, Jack a familiar drawl came out of nowhere.

Damien Conrad, a tall, thin boy with pale blue eyes and ash brown hair came walking up to them with his small pack of boys. He smirked at Leona as he walked up next to her.

He put an arm around Jacks shoulders. You know you really ought to find a girl thats prettier Damien suddenly winked at Leona and smiled an evil grin. If she wasnt already furious with him, that smile would have made her blush.

Jack blushed from his fury as Damien and his friends walked away. Im going to kill him one of these days.. he growled. He turned his back to Leona as he stalked off for English.

W-wait! cried Fern.

Jack stopped and turned. What?

You have a sign on her back. Fern stated. She walked over and took something off of Jacks back. Kick me because Im a complete moron? she read off of the sheet of paper.

Weird who would do such a thing? Jack asked. That makes the third time since I got back.

Youve had other signs on your back? Leona asked.

No more like weird things happening to me like my shorts were flying on the flagpole outside. And I found a mousetrap in my sock drawer. Jack said as he scratched his head.

I wonder why? Leona asked. Fern gave her a knowing smile, but didnt say anything.

In English, Jack sat with Leona. Damien sat with Fern in the desk behind them. Jack suddenly jumped in his seat next to Leona. Ow! he hissed as he gripped the back of his head.

Leona glanced over. Is something wrong, Jack?

He smiled weakly at her. Something just hit me on my head.

Leona glanced over at Damien. He gave her a shrug and leaned back in his seat. Fern smiled and giggled softly as she returned to her work. Leona wondered, briefly, what was happening.

Things became stranger after that. In their next class, science, Jack tripped on his shoes. When Leona knelt down to help Jack, she noticed that his shoelaces were tied together.

The next day, Jack showed up at breakfast with girlish make-up on. He apparently, hadnt looked into his mirror before he came down to eat.

The day after that, he had run out of his dorm room screaming about a large spider in his bed. When Fern walked up there, she brought down a large rubber spider toy.

By the end of the week, Jack was a nervous wreck. He started jumping at everything, thinking it was something else that was going to get him.

Leona was beginning to wonder who was pranking Jack. Every time Jack woke up, he would scream because something was hanging over his head, something was crawling under his covers, or any number of things.

One morning, she got her mail from Miss Brighton, who passed it out every morning. Odd I never get packages from my mum she muttered as she stared at a rather large, square box with her name on it.

What do you mean? Dont you get stuff from home normally? Fern asked as she opened her letters from home.

Not really I get letters and such, but no packages. Leona just stared at the box.

Well arent you going to open it, Sage? asked Damien from across from her.

Leona opened the letter that was on top of it. She gasped slightly, but smiled at Damien. I think Ill go ahead and open it later.

Damien shrugged. Weird girl he muttered.

In the evening, however, Leona was forced up the staircase to the girls dorm to get to her trunk by an impatient Fern. Come on! I want to know what you got!

I thought you could read me like an open book Leona said sarcastically.

I can, but., Fern froze, then glared at Leona, But you dont have anything in your mind and Im BURNING with curiosity!

Leona sighed and picked up the letter again. Sorry but the letter only says that I have to open it only when Im alone. Or only with you I guess Fern didnt look satisfied. Look It doesnt say what is in the box, okay!

Fern sighed and sat down on Leonas bed, waiting for her to pick out the box. Well get it out and open the box! Fern huffed at Leona.

Leona picked out the box from her trunk. She was apprehensive about opening it. For some reason, something was telling her that she shouldnt even look at it.

Suddenly, she felt Munirah, the spirit of the necklace around her neck, stirring inside her mind. She held up at hand to Fern and glanced around. Fern stopped and stared, but said nothing. She too, felt something coming from Leonas mind.

The eyes appeared in front of Leona as time seemed to stop around her. The large, human shaped, yellow eyes stared at her. I sense a familiar spirit around here. She said in the distant voice that she always spoke with.

Is there something wrong with whats inside the box, Moony? Leona asked the spirit. Munirah seemed to cringe at the nickname.

WHAT did I say about calling me that horrid name?! Munirah growled.

Sorry Leona mumbled sheepishly. Then, suddenly, the eyes disappeared and Fern was breathing again. Lets see. Leona said as she tore the brown paper off of the box.

When Leona managed to get the paper off, she was left with a beautiful jewelry box with Chinese symbols and a picture on it. How pretty! Fern gasped.

Ill have to write mum and thank her for the box! Its so pretty! Leona gushed.

Then, she opened the box. The inside was lined with red silk. Lying in the box was another necklace.

It was a gold torque and an animal fang with the same Egyptian hieroglyphs on it. It looked almost exactly the same as Leonas necklace. How weird It looks like mine! Leona said as she took it out of the box.

Maybe I get to wear one Fern smirked at Leona.

Leona wasnt amused. I really dont think you ought to wear one, Fern. I dont think you would last too long with another personality running around inside you head.

Im psychic, you know. Thats the equivalent to being schizophrenic. Fern winked at her. Another personality running around inside my head isnt any different than having Damien and you pop up and entertain me.

What the bloody hell is THAT supposed to mean Leona stared incredulously at her friend.

Fern put a finger to her temple and winked. Leona rolled her eyes and shook her head as she turned back to the necklace. Besides I dont mum think mum wants you to suffer the same fate I have.

Leona put the necklace back inside the box and buried it under her clothes inside her trunk. There safe and sound

I wonder why your mum sent this necklace to you, if its so valuable. Fern said as she got off of Leonas bed. I mean what if someone finds it and tries to put it on.

I severely doubt it whoever goes through my trunk will have to deal with me! Leona grinned.

True I dont think I would want to deal with a demon girl like you, either! Fern laughed and ran through the door to the stairs.

Ill show you demon, Fern! Leona giggled and ran after her friend.

Later that night, Leona woke up in the middle of the night. She didnt know why, but she had a sense of danger that was coming from everywhere around her.

She crept out of bed and walked to the door to the staircase. She heard something coming up the stairs. She prayed silently that it was a teacher. She didnt want to face another of the thieves that had raided the school the previous term.

She ran back to her bed, and hid under the covers. She heard the door open and close as someone walked in.

She felt Munirah moving around in her head. The lion was waiting for its chance to come out, but Leona didnt want to attack if it was a teacher just checking up on everyone.

Then, Leona heard it. The sound of a knife being unsheathed. I have to find, he says like I knew that the damned thing was a fake muttered the man that was coming.

She cursed inwardly as she saw the light of the moon glint off of the blade. Her side twitched involuntarily when she saw it. She remembered the previous term when she had been cut rather deeply by another thief.

Her heart raced as she tried to control the shaking in her body. She watched as the man knelt down to Ferns trunk. I think this is it

Leona stared at him incredulously. She wondered, briefly, why every time a thief came looking for her necklace, they always came for FERNS trunk and not hers.

The man came into the light. Unlike the previous thief, or thieves, Leona was never sure if it was more than one that came after her; this thiefs face wasnt obscured.

It was the same man that she had stopped at the museum. He couldnt have been more than twenty-five. His long black hair was pulled back into a ponytail and he was biting his bottom lip in thought. If Leona hadnt been so scared, she would have thought the man was rather attractive.

The lion stopped pacing in her mind. It was waiting, though, for her to let her guard down so it could come out and stop the thief. She wasnt sure if she should let that happen yet.

She slipped out of her bed and knelt down on the floor beside her bed. She thought that if she could get to the door, she could get his attention and run to get Miss Brighton.

Unfortunately, plans dont always go the way people want them. The man saw her crawling away from her bed and dropped the lid of the trunk he was looking through. Leona was stunned when the man pounced on her and held her shoulders to the ground.

Its you! he gasped. The moonlight that cast on his face made him look even more frightened than she would have thought. Then, a smile crept across his features. It was happy rather than frightening. I was right you are quite pretty. He said.

Then, the lion came forth. Her eyes went from grey to yellow in a split second. She bared her teeth at him and threw him off of her. He flew threw the air and landed next to the door.

She stood up and stalked toward him. The animal growl came from everywhere and from her. He grabbed the knife and reached up for the door handle.

Leona pounced just as he opened the door. She leapt onto his back, her claws digging through his black shirt. He threw her off of him and he ran down the stairs.

Leona landed hard against the wall in the staircase, sliding down a couple of the steps in the process. She felt unconsciousness taking hold of her as she watched the man disappear through the door.

Is she all right?

I dont knowdo you know how she got like this?

I assume that she was walking down the stairs and hit her head.

Leona heard voices. Her brain was so foggy, she wasnt entirely sure where the voices were coming from. She felt Munirah stirring in the back of her mind.

She recognized one of the voices as Fern. She was the one that sounded worried about her. The other voice sounded slightly irritated. She felt herself lying in someones lap.

She tried opening her eyes.

Shes coming around. said Fern.

Her eyes fluttered open and she gripped the arm that held her up. Her vision was blurry. When it cleared, she gazed up at a pair of annoyed blue eyes. Damien was gazing down at her. She was gripping onto his arm.

Glad to see youre awake, Sage. There seemed to be a hint of a smile on his pale face.

She shot off of him and got behind Fern. Whwhere am I!

Fern giggled as Damien glared at her in annoyance. Thanks so much! You were drooling on my lap! He growled and stuck his hand out at her.

Sod off! Leona stuck her tongue out at him and hugged onto Fern.

Fern giggled again, bringing Leona back to what was happening. Wherewhere is that guy that I was chasing?

What guySage, are you losing it finally? Damien smirked deviously at her.

She blushed and gulped. Erit may have been a dream I had.

Fern stood up, bringing Leona up with her. I think shes had enough, Damienlets get her back to bed so she can sleep.

Damien sighed and stood up. Fern held onto Leonas side and walked into the girls dorm. When they reached her bed, Leona laid down on it. Now go to sleep, Sage! Im tired of waking up in the middle of the night to find you in some sorry state! Damien grumbled at her.

You found me? Leona mumbled. How did you know I was there?

Damiens face grew red. Just get to sleep! He forced the covers over her head and threw her pillow on her. I thought I heard a noise downstairs and went down to investigate it!

Fern was already on her bed by the time Leona had untangled herself from her covers. Damien, however, was still standing beside her bed with that annoyed expression on his pointed face.

She gazed up at him with her own annoyed glare. Suddenly, he leaned forward and mussed up her lion mane hair. Just get to sleep. Im tired. He sighed and then walked out the door.

Leona turned to Fern. She was smiling the way she usually did when she knew something that Leona didnt, which was often. Good night, Leona.

Leona smiled at her best friend. Good night, Fern. Then, Leona laid back into her bed and went to sleep.
