Ginger snaps is one of the best horror flicks i've seen in ages. It is a canadian film made in canada, and there movies always deliver. An intelligent wickedly, fantastic werewolf crafted movie, which toucehs on real values in life, which make it more realisitic. It's not just a horror, it partakes of many genres. It fits into a category of its own. It boasts its fair share of dark comedy, and gore it's sure to please horror fans though not as scary and suspenseful as many of the original slasher flicks, this movie delivers a huge kick in the Ass to those movies, and takes you to a place where traditional horror films do not dare to go. Talking about lifes problems, and values and also things which are not meant to be mentioned in society. It"s the kind of film for many people who would no doubtingly say oh my god, how can they talk about that. Or oh thats disgusting. Women will relate in someway, to this movie, or when they were younger, and men will still find it favorable. Screenwriter Karen Walter wanted to create real characters who were real human beings, who had there fair share of problems. The horror element is in finding out it is who you are, and who it is that you love.

The characters are treated as real people, and are well played. Briggette (emily) perkins who is 26, and Ginger ( Katherine Isabelle) 21 years of age. The movie was made in 2000-2001 so obviously they were younger. Any way the metaphors are great, and there is an emotional back beat to the story which sucks you in and gets you to feel for the characters or feel what they are feeling. It�s not a one-faceted horror story it belies many feelings and thoughts other horrors have not scratched the surface on, because in essence most horror movies circle around the same idea. Usually about a bunch of high school teens, kids, or people being killed of, or stalked by a psychotic killer. In the end this is a werewolf movie with bite thats sure to please and if not then at least leave you thinking, and leave you feeling that youve been cast into oblivion.

Ginger snaps 2 - the Sequel releases on January 23, 2004 in theaters. The release date for The release date for Ginger Snaps 3 - the Prequel will be late April.

Unfortunatly the movie will not be released in theaters over in the USA i dont think, it however will come straight to vhs/Dvd, proberly not including special features :(

Ginger snaps-unleashed. Very welll done, but i was left feeling it could of delivered more. The ending was a little dissapointing, where in the Original movie it was moving and different. You were left feeling the movie was not complete. The characters where again well potrayed. The Character of Ghost very ingenious. But again the suspense was indeed minimum. Perhaps they should of left the movie well alone to leave us up to decide the fates of the Characters. The third movie awaits yet to be watched.
