Argo Duel

Argo slowly draws his hood over his head and lowers it facing the ground. For many minutes he remains this way, so that you almost think he has fallen asleep where he is. Suddenly, his head comes up, facing you, he raises his sword and staff, both starting to glow a blue color. He starts running towards you, and the blue glow around the sword changes, it becomes black, you can see the hangtime as he moves closer to you, the blackness dragging behind the sword, blocking out everything, he swings the sword right at you, and it hits, inches from your chest, you do not know what it hits, but you see Argo recoil as if he as just hit a wall. You can see the air start to ripple out from the point of the sword, like a rock that as hit a pond, the reality around the sword slowly ripples, and slowly, the blackness glowing around the sword starts out from the tip, turning the ripples into blackness, you slowly watch it, fixated upon the point where the sword first it. That's when you notice, you look up and everything, all around you is black. Argo is gone, you have a feeling you are no longer in the same place. The darkness around you is more then just simple darkness, it is thinker then darkness, pure black. You hear shrieks in the black, the screams of innocents, and mixed among them are cries, cries of some evil creature. Slowly the cries move closer to you, they are all around you. You cannot see them, you can see nothing, but you can feel the heat and flame coming off their evil bodies, you can feel the heat all around you. You soon feel the hot air of a breath upon the back of your neck and all goes deadly silent. Then, you hear the cries of many of these creatures, all around you as the sounds are moving quickly at you.

Kalisani looks about, quite accustomed to darkness. Her eyes, having developed in the dark underground of drow caves, adjust quickly, showing her that there is no source of light here at all. Closing her eyes, Kalisani waits silently. She feels the creatures presence about her. As the animals close in on her, their prey, she acts. Pulling a simple steel sword from its sheath, she spins about, leaving the sharpened steel to easily slide through the flesh of the beasts. Catching six in the first spin, Kalisani throws herself to the floor as the rest launch themselves into the air towards where she was. Rolling out of the way, Kalisani leaves the beasts to fight themselves, looking for their food. Standing silently, she wipes the sword clean on her cloak. Turning the sword to her wrist, she slices through her own flesh to reveal the steel underneath. Sliding the sword along her bones she smiles as a high pitched whine slices through the air about her. Slowly the blackness crumbles, as though shattered by the sound, leaving Kalisani standing exactly where she was. Kalisani sheaths her sword and lifts the bow from her shoulder. Retrieving a handful of arrows from her quiver, she slowly nocks them. You can see that the arrows are made of steel and are quite heavy. The blackened tips look as though they have surely been poisoned. The seven arrows Kalisani pulled from the quiver fit to the bow easily. Pulling the string back, she grins and lets the arrows fly. While most would think that such heavy arrows could not soar for long, it quickly becomes obvious that the arrows are guided by a magic much stronger than gravity. Kalisani relaxes with a smile as the arrows seek out Argo, each heading for a different body part.

Argo watches Kalisani retrieve the bow and fit the arrows into it, slowly, he lowers his head and begins to chant, as Kalisani releases the string and lets the arrows fly he lifts his staff and a pure white light shines all around him, surrounding him in a white bubblish form. The first arrow hits the bubble and nothing happens, the second hits, again nothing, but you can see Argo tensing, the third arrow splits the light, shattering it, he quickly swings with his staff, shattering the next steel arrow, then he swings his sword, which is now once again glowing with a black glow, when his sword connects with the fifth arrow you hear nothing but the arrow is engulfed in darkness and is suddenly gone. The sixth arrow soars right at him and he quickly drops his sword and raises his hand and chants, and the arrow pierces it, going straight through, but you can see now that it was changed in the air, his chant was not in vain, it is a completely different arrow, an elvish arrow, not poisoned, but still an arrow. He gasps and falls to his knees, the last arrow passing over head. He stands and slowly breaks the tip of the arrow and draws the shaft out of his hand. Crimson blood spills from the wound, but he quickly wraps it in cloth and takes up his sword again, though he can barely hold it. He starts to chant, and you can slowly see a change in his sword, it slowly begins to grow larger and has a faint green glow to hit, but suddenly you hear a fizzle and the sword returns to normal. Argo's chant falters and he looks up, disappointed. He shrugs and moves into a defensive stance, waiting for Kalisani's attack.

Kalisani tilts her head to the side, watching Argo for a moment before acting. With a shrug, she decides on a simple physical attack. Advancing on Argo, she draws her sword along with a long slender dirk. With a skill from years of practicing, she swings her sword in a graceful arch, ending in great speed aiming toward Argo's neck. Snapping her wrist, she throws the dirk towards his midsection. Keeping a defensive stance, Kalisani prepares to end the swing of her sword while awaiting Argo's action.

Argo laughs as the simple blow falls. He quickly speaks a few words and raises his sword. He grimaces as Kalisani's sword strikes his, but whatever chant he spoke helped, and he managed to keep old of his sword with his injured hand. Quickly he swings his staff, now shining, and it connects with the side of the Dirk which shatters upon connection. He takes a step back, and smiles, though you cannot see it from the darkness of his hood. He begins to chant barely audible words and slowly his body rises in the air, only going up 7 or 8 feet. He drops his sword and lowers his grey staff and points it at Kalisani. You do not know what to expect, but suddenly it begins to rain, a soft gentle rain. As each rain drop hits your body you feel peace. You start thinking of happy things, rainbows, butterflies, you want to just lay down and go to sleep, you don't want to hurt this nice man, why would you want to do that? You slowly drop your weapons to the ground and find a nice spot to lie down at and fall asleep. Slowly you feel your eyelids get heavier and heavier, the last thing you see is Argo floating softly to the ground.

Kalisani tosses and turns, moaning softly at these odd visions. Bright light and fluttering animals disturbs her sleep. Waking suddenly as her subconscious realizes that such things would not grace her dreams nor her nightmares. With a start, she looks about. Gathering her weapons, Kalisani locates her opponent standing almost exactly where she saw him returning to the ground. She must have only been asleep for a few seconds. "Such mind tricks will only work on me once." Lifting her sword, Kalisani places her already cut wrist along the blade. Blood smears along the length of the sword. Taking a few steps to close the distance between herself and Argo, she swings her sword about in an unthreatening way, never bringing the blade closer than three feet away from him. As the blood swings through the air, steel bars are formed. Within a few moments, a steel cage surrounds Argo. Stepping back, Kalisani raises her sword to the air. The cage lifts toward the skies with amazing speed. If something is not done quickly, Argo will be lifted above all the oxygen in the air surrounding Kuri.

Argo watches as a cage is formed around himself and he is shot into the air. He raises his staff and slowly starts to fight Kalisani, for an instant the cage stops, but it seems Kalisani is a better mage than he and the cage suddenly continues to shoot upwards. He blinks, unsure what to do, then it comes to him, although he is unsure if it will work. He sits down, crosslegged in the cage and chants, first the words growing louder, then lower, finally you his body start to change, a grey fog appears from nowhere, slowly the fog moves down, passing through the bottom bars of the cage, you see Argo is not there, he is gone. The fog slowly starts moving towards the ground at lightning speed. The fog slows down, 10 feet above the ground, suddenly the fog begins to shift and grow dark, you see a figure appear, suddenly the fog lifts and Argo drops to the ground with a thud. He stands up, muttering about not making it all the way to the ground. He picks up his sword and bows to Kalisani.
