John Joseph Travolta was one of six children born to Helen and Salvatore Travolta. He was born on February 18th, 1954 in the town of Englewood, NJ. Because his father was an ex pro-football player and his mother was part of a radio group called the Sunshine Sisters as well as a high school drama teacher, performing was a big part of his family. In fact, including John, all but one of his sibling went into showbusiness.

By age 12, John had already joined an area actors' group and was soon appearing in local performances. By age 16, he dropped out of high school to pursue his acting career. Then, he relocated to Manhatten to make his off-Broadway debut in Rain. After that, his participation in musicals, tv, and plays, brought him to star in his first hit film, Saturday Night Fever. Because of that film, his career took off, making him the star he is today.

Mr. Travolta has certainly been through a variety of roles, and has accomplished much. Socially, he now is in a happy marriage with his wife Kelly, and is a loving father to his two children, Jet and Ella. He has also been highly rewarded for his great acting skills as well. His awards and nominations consist of twice being named Best Actor, as well as being nominated for two Academy awards and four Golden Globes.
