1988
  • At that time, GLAY was newly formed in Hakodate, Hokkaido, with only Takuro and Teru as the band's members.

  • 1990
  • Hisashi is officially the 3rd member of GLAY. After the three graduated, GLAY moved to Tokyo. While taking on other jobs, they also performed at the many Live Houses there.

  • 1991 October
  • GLAY produced some cassette tapes which they distribute. Jiro, a member of another band, Pierrot, joined GLAY and became their Bassist and 4th member.

  • 1 Feb. SOLD OUT - Live gig "Wanman Raibu" at Meguroroo Kumei Kan
  • 25 Apr. SOLD OUT - Live gig "2 Days Raibu" at Meguroroo Kumei Kan
  • 25 May. Debut single [RAIN], produced by Yoshiki. This is the theme song of dorama "Yamatotakeru". Released indies album [Hai To Daiyamondo] "Ash and Diamonds".
  • 26 Sep. LIVE TOUR "Hai To Daiyamondo" start.

  • 1 Mar. Mega-first album [SPEED POP], produced by Masahide Sakuma. The album hit No.8 on Oricon.
  • 2 Apr. New tour "SPEED POP STANDING GIG" sold out. New supporting musician D.I.E (of The SpreadBeavers) joined as keyboardist.
  • 22 Apr. Tour "SPEED POP GIG '95" start. All 10 locations sold out. New supporting musician Toshi Nagai (drums).

  • 7 Feb 2nd album [BEAT out!] released. Achieved No.1 on Oricon Charts within the 1st week of release.

  • 2 May 2nd video collection [VIDEO GLAY 2] released. Achieved No.1 on Oricon Charts within the 1st week of release.
  • 2 Jun 1st tour at Nippon Budokan "BEAT out! reprise" tickets go on sale.
  • 5 Oct Osaka Midokaikan Live "GLAY SPECIAL LIVE IN OSAKA".
  • 18 Nov 3rd album [BELOVED] released. Hit No.1 on Oricon Charts within the first week. Broke GLAY into the big time with sales of over a million copies.
  • 8 Dec GLAY TOUR '96 - '97 "BELOVED YOU" start.

  • 14 May 11th single [Kuchibiru] released. GLAY official Fan Club [HAPPY SWING] presents "HAPPY SWING '97 UNPLUGGED".
  • 1 Oct Best Of album [REVIEW~BEST OF GLAY] released. Hit sales of more than 3 million in the 1st week of release. Hit No.1 on Oricon. Takuro's radio show "Million Nights GLAY with Takuro" start on Tokyo FM.

  • 23 Aug 21st single [tomadoi] released. This is the theme song for TBS Network "onnan no hontoko" programme [mirai rikki], meaning Future Diary. It will also be the theme song for [mirai rikki - movie version].
  • 6 Sep Official soundtrack for film version of Mirai Nikki released. Soundtrack produced by Sakuma Mahaside and GLAY members participated in some tracks.
  • 15 Nov Release of 22nd single [Missing You]. This song is likely to tie-up with a CM and features tracks written by TAKURO, JIRO and HISASHI.
  • 29 Nov Release of new album [DRIVE~GLAY Complete BEST] which features 24 songs, of which 17 are previous hits. [Missing You] will also be included.
  • December Announced no appearance at the annual Kouhaku Uta Gassen due to recording in New York.
