Title Reminiscing Author Stana Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2000 20:30:55 -0400 The phone was ringing loudly as Kelly snuggled up against him. Mark yawned, his mind not alert enough to identofy the sound at first. It took Kelly another murmurred protest before he reached acrossed and plucked the phone out of its cradle. "Hello?" he said sleepily. "It's me." "Yeah." Mark answered, coming awake "Yeah I hear ya. One sec." He threw the covers off himself and left the room, closing the door quietly behind him. "Long time no hear. What can I do for you?" "I just wanted to talk...I guess I woke you." "No worries." Mark replied, opening the glass partition and stepping out. "Lonely?" "Sorta." Mark smiled a bit, hearing the other voice souding slightly frustrated. Henry was never good at voicing feelings. "How's Carolyn?" "Back in PA." Henry answered curtly. "I'll be going back too, not with her though." "Going back eh?" "And you?" "Still here. Kelly and I are working until we get enough cash to split. We were thiking of heading out to Oregon." "Oregon..." "Yeah." Mark answered "There were the Japanese Gardens there that Stana wanted to visit, and the ocean of course." "It's been too long." Henry said "There's no possible way any of them..." "It doesn't look like it." Mark answered gently "We'll probably never know. Is that why you called?" "...I'm not sure...but I think so, yeah." There was a long pause at the other end. "She was always skipping out of lunch and going upstairs to read in an empty classroom, the hall monitors let her by without a hitch because they knew she wouldn't cause trouble. Me...I had to sneak by..." **************Flashback************* Henry slipped up the stairs, congratulating himself on getting by. Stupid class rules that made all the lunch students stay in the cafeteria nad the surrounding halls for a full hour when you could eat in a quarter of that. Noisy, hot place, especially in summer! Especially on the last day of school. So far there had been the normal pranks of smoke bombs in the halls and toilet papering of rooms, but nothing more random than that. Security was pretty light, and Henry didnt think that even if he had been caught, he'd have been given trouble. Of course, he didnt intend to get caught and test that assumption either. He wandered down the halls, peeking into classes, waving at teachers he knew and some students that weren't graduating with him this year. He wouldnt miss some things, but he would definitely miss all his friends. He turned down the history wing, noting the quiet and relative freshness. He wouldnt find any classes in this wing until the afternoon, but he did find students, or rather one. "You slipped out too huh?" he asked the girl bent over the book. He grinned as she started, head jerking up with a suprised smile on her face before she quickly dropped her head. "I didn't need to. The Monitors let me by," Stacey replied.
