title: pushing on author: teri Date: Fri, 18 Feb 2000 20:09:04 -0500 Teri was bored. Painfully, infuriatingly bored. She was pissed, impatient and bitchy. And worse- she had no one to bitch to. Elainas was presumably asleep somewhere, so Teri couldn't throttle her pretty white neck. The elementalist, who would have certainly been a distraction from her volatile mood, was nowhere to be found. Clip would have only incensed her further, and she really doubted the thief was smelling any better today than he had been the previous night. She had been asleep in the moss-colored bed for as long as her body would allow. She couldn't remember the last time she had slept so long. And still, time dragged on and the elven haven was immobile. It was the frustration of having absolutely nothing to do- and the fact that no one else seemed to even CARE that there was nothign to do. They were supposed to be on a rescue mission, right? The what the fuck were they doing sitting on their asses? Teri hadn't wanted to come along in the first place. Except that imbecilic teenaged boy had pissed her off, and the damned unicorn had asked her to pay attention to Stana. The white bandanna and teddy bear were still in her bag, tucked safely against the corner of the bed, with her coat. What seemed like hours ago, she had gotten up, careful not to disturb Stana's sleep, and wandered around the quaint little hut she hadn't paid attention to the night before. Limited sunlight streamed weakly through the woven mesh window shades, casting greenish-gold highlights to the floor. She had counted the light-marks. Twice. There were exactly 67 of them. She had even peaked out the windows, leaning to look around the hut at the rest of the elf's home. Not a sound, not a stirring. It was as if the entire place, which had been so lively in feasting the night before, was now dead. No one was doing a damned thing! Teri was back on the bed, agitated and stewing in her own agitation. The light was too dim in the hut to read, and she had nothing to practice her lessons on anyway. She had considered tampering with Stana's sleeping form- but didn't want to jeopardise the fragile teamwork they had enjoyed the previous day. Besides- the girl seemed somehwat calmer, in her slumber, than before. No, not calmer- weakened a bit. Which was probably a good thing- because she had been entirely too chaotic lately. Still, (and Teri's mind went round and round like this, gnawing over and over the same subjects) Teri was awfully bored- and it had to be well past noon. She couldn't take very much more of this. They had been on this rescue mission for what seemed like three very grueling months. She looked down and realized that she had worn a hole in the moss-colored blanket. With an agitated sigh, she decided to wander around the elven vale. She felt like shredding some leaves, breaking some twigs- she wanted to hear the satisfying snap of a visceral manifestation of her frustration. If she didn't find Elainas or the the elementalist soon, she would go nuts. She wanted to leave- she couldn't explain the anxiousness she felt except that it seemed as if she had been trapped in this limbo of greenery for far too long. She wanted new scenery- she wanted action- she wanted to move. Letting the door swing noisily shut behind her- she stepped out into the dead sunshine. *** Ten minutes later she returned to the hut, grabbed Stana's blanket, and pulled it and the girl to the floor with a satisfying thump. "For the love of god get your ass out of bed! We're leaving!" ~*~************************************************~*~ "The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit.
