The tired party, weapons still drawn and muscles still tensed in flight and battle, found themselves stepping onto a plush carpet of grass. The ground was a verdant green dappled by the mid-morning sunlight. They were farther east than they had been a moment before, the sun higher in its morning climb. "What just happened?" Teri whispered to Stana, uncurling herself and arching her neck to look over the other girl's shoulder. "I have no idea," she replied warily, not as quick to let her guard down. Teri flicked annoyed eyes at the back of the woman's head. "Relax, it's safe here. Can't you feel it?" Indeed, the patch of green was vacant save for the small band, and the peaceful chirrup of birds came from the leafy curtain above. "We won't be alone for long," Elainas said, beginning hastily to arrange her rumpled attire. "Put your weapons away, and let me do the talking," she said, watching the edges of the green for signs of movement. ~*~************************************************~*~ "The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit.
