 Chapter 3

Oh my god, the Red Series just arent here for Max, the South Africans are looking to turn Seattle into a full-blown crime ring centre and theyre setting up as I read this. Logan thought as he took in deep breath as he hacked into a suspicious server that was linked to payoffs to the Sector Police. They are building up immensely, they have seven Reds already here, establishing a trade of nearly every drug on the market, building up a slavery ring, this is gigantic, how the hell do I deal with this? The Sector Police are being paid off to look the other way, no help from them, these people have to be stopped, but how? This is the worst scenario Ive run into yet, but with Robert here, and his interest in defending Max, we may just even odds yet, but can I risk getting Max hurt, those Reds will go through anyone to get to her. Logan thought as he buried his face in his hands and mused over what he was now seeing.

If youre going to conceal your fear, you had best not produce a scent, its a dead give-away. Robert remarked as he came into Logans computer room, and noticed the fresh pheromones that Logan was releasing, revealing fear.

I didnt ask for an opinion on concealing fears, I was wondering, what do you know about Red Series? Logan replied as Robert stood there, scanning the screens, but not giving any sort of sign of relaxation does anyone ever come out of Manticore ever cool off and relax, let their guard down ever? Logan thought as Robert composed himself and recalled his thoughts on the two encounters he had with the South African super soldiers.

Its the South African attempt to make a super soldier, they receive neural implants into the necks which branch out and deactivate the pain receptors, while stimulating the adrenal glands. This change makes the men fearless because the stimulation of the adrenal glands fills them up and gives them the feeling of invincibility with their great strength, but little else changes. According to reports the bodies of these soldiers cant take the punishment that the combat they face and what the implants themselves do to them, the implant kills them inside of a year if a fight doesnt. Ive engaged them before, they can take vast amounts of punishment and keep going thanks to the adrenal stimulation, Max would have difficulty matching up to these guys unless she used the lessons she learned at Manticore in making a quick kill, in a long fight the Reds would win out for sure. Robert replied to Logans inquiry as he listed off all he knew about the Red Series, and what he thought of when he compared them to Max.

What do these guys mean to you? Logan asked, wondering if Robert considered them a threat.

The more arrogant they are about being invincible, the faster I blow their heads off. Robert replied in a matter-as-fact tone of voice as he dismissed the Reds as a threat.

I see, anything else? Logan asked as he absorbed how Robert brushed off the idea of killing a few men as if it was as normal as brushing his teeth.

Youve got a thing for Max, and youre really bad at hiding it. Robert added as he sat down and eased up his tense muscles.

You too? Why does everyone keep saying that? Logan grumbled as he realised he would receive haranguing from Robert as well over his relationship with Max. Problem is they are so close to the truth, but I dont even have the balls to act on it, or a leg to stand on, I hate this.

Because its as plain as day. Robert replied with a slight smile as he enjoyed his light grilling out of Logan over the connection Logan had with Max.

Would you mind getting off that for a minute? This is serious! Logan replied in a stern voice as he pointed to his screens, which were filled with information on the South African operation.

Is this going to take long, I told the girls Id see them at Crash again before last call, whats going on here, Logan, why do you have that Max is in trouble look on your face? Max said as she strolled into the room, wondering what those two had found out.

Max, theres a much bigger threat from the Red Series than we thought, look at this, you may want to go low-profile for a while. Logan replied as she looked at the screen, than saw what was going on.

Oh shit, I thought that with Roberts rather dynamic entrance in that fight those Reds would leave, but theyre just setting up shop here, waiting for the right time to attack. Were Maxs thoughts as she saw what the Reds had been doing, and why this was such a threat to her, they wanted her DNA, and they had the manpower to grab her now.

I take it you want to get this on Eyes Only, but are scared of what could happen to me if I tried to gather any data for you? Max asked Logan as she thought to herself Logans acting a lot more jumpy than usual about a mission for me, but then again, this is hardly a routine job, I wonder, is that caring I see for his leg-woman, or me as a friend? I was wondering if he felt something for me, this is definitely a sign, but best not to jump the gun, I have to figure out what I feel for him first. Max thought as she walked behind Logan, brushing his shoulders with her fingers, she felt him tense up paydirt, think you can hide anything from me sir Eyes Only?

I hate to break up this lovers quarrel, but Robert began as he tried to calm the two down.

Shut up! They both snapped at him simultaneously, but Robert continued.

Max can take care of herself, I can take the Reds on if they try anything, just find us something of the Reds to get rid off or rip off and well do it. Which brings me to the actual question, what do you have so far, anything viable? Robert said as Max continued to administer light touches to Logan, looking to elicit a response.

Theres a mess of data here, come back here at about five tomorrow afternoon and Ill tell you what I have. Max why dont you show Robert Crash, and get him a job at Jam Pony, every superhero needs a bar and a low-paying courier job. Logan said as Robert gave a small nod to Logans offer. Robert wondered to himself how long the current little dance between Max and Logan would go on, Robert could smell the two exerting the scent of sexual tension, the room was now beginning to reek of the scent.

Alright, this tower of adrenaline doesnt look like hes had fun for a long time, but Logan, hes staying here, no men in my apartment, Kendras been harassing me to find someone who can I bang the gong with. I dont need to give her any ideas Max said, announcing that Robert would be staying at Logans until he found his own place, actually Kendra would figure that Ive decided to take you and Robert as some sort of kinky thing. Cool it Max, if you start thinking about you and Logan in bed, youre either going to laugh it off, or fantasize about it for the next week.

What happened to us, Im so hurt. Logan remarked with a grin as Max turned around.

Ha-ha, another crack like that and Ill give you some feeling in your legs alright! Max shot back.

Robert smiled once again, helloooo entertainment, I didnt think it would be this fun, but those two are going to be fun to watch, now if only I had some popcorn.

As Max and Robert arrived in Logans garage and mounted their bikes, Max nodded for Robert to put his guns away in his bike, to which Robert sighed but complied with.

Follow me, and try to keep up, I dont want to have to come and find you. Max said as she started the engine up on her Ninja.

Id worry more about you thinking of Logan, then lose it as you make a turn. Robert replied as he fired up his own motorcycle.

Shut up! I dont need romantic advice from a bloodhound, let alone another man! Max snapped at Robert as she took off.

Max kicked her bike into high gear, and Robert followed, it started out as a simple ride, but the two decided to race after a bit. By the time they arrived at Crash, they were each impressed at the cycling skills of the other, but Max had won, her superior handling skills had made those tight turn contests a forgone conclusion, but Roberts ability to track her was good, allowing him to maintain a good tail.

This is Crash, the official hang-out of the Jam Pony messenger service staff, and the only place youll be able to take advantage of people with your skills without being noticed, works for me. Said Max as she and Robert parked their cycles and walked into the bar.

Robert had been in many bars, from officers messes to civilian bars, but never a place like Jam Pony. Robert made no change in his expression to show that he was uneasy with the bar and kept on following Max, scanning the crowd, wondering if the Reds were closing in on Maxs location.

Original Cindy, Kendra and Sketchy were at a table Max over, she gestured for Robert to follow her, as he followed, he watched bike stunts being performed at the bar. Robert paid it no mind, he needed a stiff drink, and hopefully he would find one here, he didnt need a watered-down club drink.

Max who is this fine man, and why havent you introduced me to him earlier? Kendra asked, Max had filled him in on her friends, and the fact they didnt know what she could do, stressing that it was not a good idea.

Kendra, Cindy, Sketchy, this is Robert, he just got in to town, and we used to live in the same neighbourhood, so before you fall all over him Kendra, hes not looking for a relationship. Max replied to her inquisitions, and Robert sat down, wondering if she would take that advice, or prowl on him regardless.

I may be new, but I dont need a guide Max, Im hardly a stranger to a bar, which remains me, any good hooch around here? Robert said as he defended himself, obviously not intent on showing any sign of weakness, and leaned back, looking around the clientele, wondering if anyone here was now working for the Red gang. Ease up ace, youre seeing Red everywhere, relax and just knock back a few Robert reminded himself as his eyes continued to scan the crowd.

Not really, we have the basics, beer, moonshine of varying lethal grades, and wine turned to vinegar, were all strapped for cash, would you mind buying the drinks tonight? Sketchy said, who was wondering who Robert was.

Sketchy, Im ashamed of you, the man is barely thirty seconds into the club and youre already mooching drinks of him, you usually beat around the bush for at least two minutes. Replied Max as she slapped him upside the head, not your regular female, but Im not your regular male, Robert thought as he formulated his response.

The lady has a point, but I find you can get to know someone better over a few beers, cause if they are complete jerks, you can drink to forget, excuse me, Ill go acquire some booze. Robert said excusing himself got up from the table and walked over to the bar, but banged into one of the bouncers, who seemed to be taking the night off, and knocking back a few, and the bouncer stopped him.

Hey punk, watch where youre going! The bouncer grabbed Roberts arm, which indicated he was not in the happy-drunk state.

Shove off you drunken fuck, or youll have a concussion to go along with that hangover tomorrow. Were Roberts words, and people were backing away from the two.

The bouncer swung a heavy left, but was drunk, so the blow was slow and inaccurate. Robert sidestepped with a move born from years of constant practice, and delivered a solid right that smashed the bouncer to the floor.

Get this fuck out of here before I really lose it, and a pitcher of beer. Robert said to the bartender, and people looked at Robert, wondering who that towering man was. The bartender had three people drag the bouncer in back, Robert paid for the pitcher, then walked back to the table.

Damn girl, whered you find this guy? Said Original Cindy as she watched Robert put the beers on the table, and then leaned back on his chair, as half the bar watched him.

Robert used to be in the military until a few years back, the Army Special Forces to be exact, Robert here knows eight ways to kill someone unarmed, so in other words, dont piss him off. Max said as Robert poured out the pitcher into their glasses, and explained away his fighting talents.

I dont like to talk about it, Im just trying to make a living just like everyone else in this laughing stock of an economy, are your bouncers always that drunk and unruly? Asked Robert as he fumed over having to waste his time on some drunken idiot.

Thats a first for Crash, he isnt gonna stay here long if a customer can knock him down in a single blow, hell be gone, and theyll find someone to take his place soon enough. Sketchy said as Robert drained half of his glass, and was at ease despite having gone nose-to-nose with a 350-pound bouncer less than three minutes before.

Good, I dont need to prove myself to every drunken loser in the place, or should I find myself a new drinking den? Said Robert as he scanned the room again, seeing if anyone was going to be a fool that night.

Relax Robert, we havent seen that in a while, fights dont happen at Crash, and I doubt anyone would start something after your little display. Max answered as she took a swig of her own beer and patted his shoulder.

By the way, I need a job, does Jam Pony need any more messengers or debt collectors, Im flexible Robert asked Max as he made a grin, but lost it as Max gave him a cold stare.

Normals always got three packages for you to deliver after you do your last run, and he could use someone that isnt scared of those runs to gang territory, I think I can score you a job. Max responded Robert downed the last of his beer, Max noticed Robert inhaling deeply into his nose, as he tired to ferret out any possible hostiles, this boy does not like to be taken by surprise.

So Robert, are you actually not interested in woman, or is Max trying to keep you to herself, she does need someone to bang, but are you that man?
Kendra asked, seeing if she could pierce the identity of this mysterious newcomer.

Im not looking for a sexual or casual relationship as of now, with either gender, Im not gay, Im just not looking for a relationship with woman beyond platonic, it is as simple as that. Besides, I couldnt be getting it on with Max anyways, her rich boyfriend has dibs. Robert replied as Max looked at him coldly again, and was not appreciative of his little comment over her relationship with Logan.

Can it, I have a business relationship with Logan, thats all. Max said trying to shut Robert up about the topic he was bringing up, but Max knew once it was brought up, it would not go away

Sure, and Normal lost the stick up his ass, Ive seen the way you two look at each other, you have got to get your dealio with richboy figured out sooner or later boo, end of story. Original Cindy said as she laughed at another attempt by Max to shut everyone up about her relationship with Logan.

Robert, why dont you go beat up some more bouncers, I dont need another person riding me about Logan, I dont need this from you any more than I need it from these people. Max snapped as Robert kept that grin on his face, obviously amused by this whole event, but he noticed the anger building up in her eyes, so he decided to change the subject.

Seeing as how Max will probably unleash her wrath upon the next person to comment on this, Ill be going now, I have some things to take care of, what time should I show up at Jam Pony tomorrow? Asked Robert as he got up, and put his jacket back on.

Be there at around 7:30, but dont prepare yourself for a warm welcome, Normal doesnt like to get chummy with his workers. Said Max as Robert walked out of the door and into the night.

What is with that guy Max? He has that tough-guy to him, but he seems to be quite hostile about discussing his past, something happen to him? Asked Kendra as Max formulated a response.

He got mistreated pretty bad in the military, he doesnt talk about it, and no one asks him about it, its how he is. Said Max as she finished the last of the beer in her glass and wondered where Robert had taken off to.

I dont know, he seemed pretty cold during that fight, its like he didnt

care if that bouncer died or not, thats a pretty disturbing past. Sketchy said as he recalled the fight, and how coldly Robert had dispatched of the bouncer.

Just dont ask him, he takes it very personally, and he can kill easily, you saw how he took down that bouncer, just leave it be. Said Max as she changed the subject and just talked with her friends for the rest of the evening.

*************

Robert was not in a good mood, he had to fight less than five minutes into stepping into the place with some loser who couldnt contain himself. Then as he was joking about it Max told Robert to saw it off about her and Logan and that his source of entertainment was not to be discussed.

Why do I do this? Why must I always strike out with people? Because youre not normal Robert, and you cant let your past go. Ah well, Ill waste those Reds, then move on, no point staying where I cant connect with people, so I might as well jump off the Space Needle. Because I cant be with people, something just DRIVES me to stay distant, what the fuck did you do to me Lydecker? What goddamn genes did you splice to make me swear off social interaction? Robert fumed as he walked to his bike and took off, letting the night consume him.

**********

Max, are you sure Robert could work at Jam Pony, Normal just might push him to far and he snaps and kills him, what would that say about you recommendations for hiring people? Sketchy asked as the night started to come to an end, and most people got up to leave.

He doesnt normally get pissed off, hes learned to keep his rage under control, but I doubt he would take it out on Normal, hes got more self-control than that, I know him, hes not a killing machine. Max replied, defending Robert from the inquisitions of her friends, wondering where did Robert go to, and what had given him that attitude, then again, anyone coming out of Manticore was hardly normal.

I dont know, but if that boy gets out of line, Original Cindy is going to have to smack him down. Said Original Cindy as she finished her beer and got up and put her coat on.

I wouldnt try it, Robert has kept his training going since he left the military, he put down a 350 pound bouncer without breaking a sweat. Hes a bit distant, but give him time, he hasnt had a home since 2007, and he finds it hard to trust people, he kind of got burned the last time he did. Max said cutting off the idea of Original Cindy taking on Robert as she put her jacket on and started walking to the door, calling it a night, and making sure no one would push Robert tomorrow. Max knew Robert had enough problems without the Jam Pony crew hounding him about what he was, and he would at least be in his element once Logan found a target, combat seemed to be his area, after seeing how coldly he dispatched with the Red Series earlier that night.

***********

You know, normal people sleep at one point or another during the day, or does this Eyes Only job cut out sleep? Robert said as he walked into Logans apartment, carrying a case and a backpack, while Logan continued to work at his computer.

Im still working on finding a weak link, those Reds are protecting their interests quite well, or can you smell the weak link? Replied Logan as he continued to tap away on his keyboard, finding somewhere that Max and Robert could hit without getting Max hurt. Roberts file made it clear that he could absorb massive amounts of punishment, but Max didnt have his ability to regenerate, so Logan worried about her.

This nose has its limits, but you seem awfully worried about this, what is it between you and Max anywise? I can smell the mood changes on any person, and when shes around, the room reeks of sexual tension and I can tell that you two have more than just friendship-type feelings, as I reminded you of earlier. Robert responded as he put the bag and case down, and pulled up a chair, looking at the screens that Logan was enraptured by.

Whats between me and Max is between me and Max, Im not exactly sure what to make of our relationship, its business as of right now, and will remain business until we agree to take it beyond that. Logan replied as he closed the file on another Red operation and started to look at another.

Id say that its already progressing, but its gotten stuck on something, I dont need a nose that can detect any change in someones mood and emotions, you two have got something going on. Robert said as he walked over to the metal case he had brought with him and put it on the table.

I dont need romantic advice from a bloodhound, let alone another employee, my personal therapist and Maxs friends all think weve got something going on, and now youre on my case? Logan snapped at Robert as he wondered if Max really did feel something more than friendship, but banished the thought, best keeping things professional for the time being.

Hey, cool it, I was just making an observation, if you dont want to talk about you and Max, fine, Im just saying you may want to try a relationship with Max, it could work out. Said Robert, a bit shocked at Logans response.

Ill try a relationship with Max when were both ready, until then, keep your mouth shut, youre here to help bring down the Reds, not analyse me and Maxs lovelives. Replied Logan, but Robert knew something was up

Lovelives? This could get interesting, thats a rather bad choice of words when it comes to defending a relationship thats supposedly non-existent. Its that damn chair of his, he feels inadequate, I can see where hes coming from, Ive been there, I hit the bottle as well when I was stuck in it, thank god hes got more self-control than that. Robert thought as he popped the case, an H&K MP5k was in it, with a set of magazines, and a series of small devices which Logan took to being explosives.

I see that you hold nothing against using guns, but dont offer one to Max, she informed me one time that she doesnt use them. Logan commented as Robert handled the submachine gun and looked the weapon over.

Lets just hope it keeps Max safe, she doesnt need to get hauled away by the Reds, or anyone for that matter, I need her for more than Eyes Only. Dammit, you thought about her again in a romantic light, are you so obsessed with her now that you cant banish that thought for a mere hour? Logan thought as he tapped away at his keyboard, looking for a weak link in the chain of the South African operation. You care about her, admit it Logan, you love her, but no point saddling her with a cripple like yourself, just keep it business, and no gets hurt.

It will be a while before this is done, why dont you just unpack your stuff in the guest room, and do whatever you ex-Manticore superhumans do at night, its bound to be more interesting than this. Said Logan as Robert shut the case after checking his submachine gun, obviously making sure that it was in working order, then got his backpack and started unloading his things in the guest room.

Those two definitely have something going on, its not entertainment anymore, and its serious. Logan cares about Max far too much to send her any place where it might be too dangerous, so he was relieved to have me along for the ride, but he definitely feels something for her. This shouldnt concern me, its my job to make sure Max doesnt get hurt, and to make sure the other X5s are safe, not play matchmaker, so just leave it. But Max could get hurt bad if something splits them apart instead of those two growing closer, at which point shell be vulnerable. But shell be equally vulnerable if she lets her guard down while being with Logan. Ah shit, why forsake them the happiness you reject? Put them together and see what happens, you know its right, they deserve each other. Robert thought as he unpacked his clothes and put away his weapons case, and decided to sleep, he was possessed of mind-boggling power, but like every last person on the planet, he needed to sleep.

*************

The next day Robert got up at 6:30 and went right out, and saw Logan silhouetted from the light in his computer room, sleeping, he must live in that room. Were Roberts thoughts as he left the luxurious penthouse and took the elevator down to the street, then made his way to Jam Pony, deciding what the hell, its not like I need a high-paying job, if I need money Ill take it from the those drug-dealing fucks on the street, or what Ive stashed. Robert thought as he walked into the place, and saw one man behind a desk yelling out runs to people, and Robert assumed that this was Normal, the guy that was the bane of the Jam Pony staff.

Hey, run to 126 Main, and make sure you get a signature this time! Said Normal to Sketchy as he put the package in the bag and rode off.

Deciding that this guy was going to be a pain in the ass about getting a job, Robert just went with his standard approach, look like youre about to kill someone.

Hi, Im looking for a job, are there any staff positions open, or should I wait for a gang war to knock out one of your messengers? Robert asked as he leaned on the counter, his height was still impressive.

And you would be Normal asked as he looked at Robert, whose powerpack frame and massive size were not diminished as he leaned on the front desk.

The name is Robert, and before you say that there are no positions available, I have no problems with running packages into gang territory, or violent areas in general. Robert cut off Normal before he could say that he wasnt hiring.

Good, I need someone who isnt afraid of a little hazard work, get a locker, grab a bike, and run this one into South Market, 27$ C.O.D., hey Max! Show this guy the way. Normal said as he passed Robert a package and yelled at Max to join Robert.

Max turned and saw that Robert had managed to drag a job out of Normal, but Herbal stopped her first.

Max, that man is not like us, Ive got bad vibes comin from him. Said Herbal as he let go and she grabbed her bike and moved to join Robert.

Leave him alone, I know him, hes not that bad, he just has a bad past, thats all. Said Max to Herbal as she joined Robert and they both rode off.

As the day went on and Robert made nine runs, which Normal was thrilled about, usually dragging more than six runs out of anyone was impossible at Jam Pony.

Max made five runs, and chatted with Cindy, Sketchy, and Herbal on breaks, and watched Normal yell out runs, keeping the subject off Logan at all times, why does everyone think that were more than what I tell them? Because youre attracted to him, admit it girl, but you wont admit it, Mr Eyes Only wouldnt have time for you anyways, Blah Blah, Woof Woof, and all that, dammit Logan, why must you remain so distant?

Finally someone who knows how to get the job done, I see a bright future for you here at Jam Pony, unless these other bums infect you. Said Normal as Robert returned after his ninth run, and Max told Robert it was time to go see Logans master plan for bringing down the Red menace.

************

You know hes gonna start using you as an example for what we should all be doing, youre just making the rest of us look bad. Max said to Robert as they arrived at Logans place.

I did nine runs to make sure he wouldnt bother me, I intend to cut back to seven a day, no point having a job if the rest of staff hates me. Robert replied as they came to Logans penthouse.

Herbal said he was picking up bad vibes from you, are you projecting some sort of anti-social field, or is that in the genes as well? Asked Max as they walked in.

I dont know, Ive just been different since the accident in Korea and the changes that were made, I dont know, lets not talk about it, and see what Logan has for us alright? Snapped Robert as he turned towards Logans computer room.

Fine, but dont expect me to defend your rep to the Jam Pony crew, some of them are spooked after last night, you were scary the way you put down that bouncer. Replied Max.

They can take it up with my fists, theyve settled many an argument before. Robert remarked as he clenched his right hand into a fist.

Cool it Rambo, I dont need a body count where I work. Max replied, staring at him coldly.

I would never endorse a body count, just a bit of splattered blood, what do you take me for? Robert asked.

A man with more power than eight of my siblings combined, and obviously with no qualms about using it. Max replied.

I could turn into a homicidal manic if I felt like it, but I dont, just remember that, I know my duty, its what keeps me in line. Robert replied as they walked into Logans den.

Good to see you two, now lets get down to business, Ive found a weak link in the Red Series chain, a small drug house with what looks like eight to ten hired guns with two Red Series as security. Logan said turning away from his screen to address Robert and Max.

Why so much security for one small drug house? Robert inquired, you dont lay down that kind of firepower without a good reason.

This drug house has a complete record of the entire drug operation, all their suppliers, all their warehouse locations, every last person involved in the chain, and shipping dates for the next month, with this information we could destroy their drug smuggling operation. Logan answered as he brought up the file on the warehouse.

Nice work, if Max can use her infiltration skills and grab it, Ill deal with the security, but one question, are they creating Red Series here, or are they shipping them in? Robert asked, wondering how close support was for the South African operation should things start to work against them.

Unfortunately they are creating them here, but at a location on the other side of town, the information I have here is four hours old, and Ive tapped their phone lines and cells, so we can keep up on their activities. I suggest you raid the place in four hours, it will be dark then and since neither of you have a problem with seeing at night, the whole thing should run smoothly. Logan replied as Robert stood there for a minute and mused over the whole situation.

Bringing down a South African crime ring with an X5, fighting Red Series and working at a messenger service, yep, thats the glorious future I envisioned from the start of my life. Robert thought as remembered to not bring his MP5k, a large firefight generated and the noise from his submachine gun would draw undue and unwanted attention he noted.

Max was silent as well, musing over the details. Logan seems unsure if he wants to send me out there, he worries about me to much, with Robert helping me out, things should go smoothly, he cares about me, but I can take care of myself. Its cute that he worries about a genetically enhanced killing machine getting hurt when hes the one in the wheelchair, maybe hell try and convince me into not going by serving up another Cale masterpiece for dinner? Max smiled as she thought about Logan trying to outdo himself with another Cale culinary delight to make her stay there, rather than her going on the mission and possibly getting hurt. Max debated whether to ask Logan what he really felt about her, but he was self-conscious about his disability right now, and had been since it had happened. Ill simply have to speed things up, better find out now, does he worry that much about his business partner, or me as a friend, Robert being here should decrease his worrying, but it doesnt. After we do the job, Ill make it my job find out for sure, but Ill leave it be for now. Logan continued to tap away at his computer, while Robert went into the guest room and practised his fighting techniques, preparing for the mission, Max did little except sit with Logan, watching him work away at finding out more about this Red threat.

After Logan whipped up another awe-inspiring meal for the three of them, and after a bit of last minute preparation, Robert and Max set off to retrieve the information.

**************

Im pretty sure anyone who was watching you could have picked up on the sexual tension between you and Logan, its getting worse by the hour, either you hook up now, or break it off and leave Seattle, its your only two options. Robert said to Max as they mounted their cycles and revved the engines up.

Im going to test something with him tonight, but right now lets focus on the job at hand, were good friends right now, Im just not sure where to take it from there. Max answered as she took off on her Ninja. Yea, just yell out to someone is practically a complete stranger that you have a thing for Logan.

I just hope memories of Logan keep you warm while theyre probing you for your DNA. Robert mumbled as he fired his bike's engine up and tailed Max. Stop it, you are here to protect her and make sure that never happens, and a few South African superman are nothing compared to you Robert thought rebuking himself from his comment. The two rode towards South Market, Robert remembered the words his CO had told him once.

A litre of blood buys you one inch of territory in urban combat.
