Logan turned his head to one side in a dreamy haze. Then to the other,
silently
struggling. He finally opened his eyes and half-heartedly
attempted
to sit up.He failed and settled on proping himself up on his elbows. He shot
a disgusted sideways glance at his left, the general direction of his
wheelchair. He was dependent on it.It was his only choice for mobility
in
his spacious apartment. He had woken up feeling a slight tingle.Nothing too
potent or eager to announce it's presence..but somewhere in the back of
his
mind he felt different today. He shook off the thought and began to
concentrate
on the task of manuevering into the chair.God,how he hated
being
vulnerable and weak in the worst way.He sat there for a second and
reflected
on Max.How,when they first met,he regarded her as a tool for his
cause.Sure
he had noticed her undeniable beauty and sharp wit,but never considered her
as a love interest. He needed her to help him.Now he yearned to be near her
and not to sense sympathy or pity when she looked at him. "If only i
wasn't... " he stopped short after murmuring to himself. He moved his
body close to the edge of the bed and reached for the arm rest of the
wheelchair. He pulled it close enough so that he could lower himself
into
it.He was almost in the chair when his hand slipped, causing him to
land
on his carpeted floor.Logan cursed to himself and tried to pull himself
up.He
felt a vague support assisting him.He looked down as he saw the
source.He
had unknowningly put pressure on his right leg and there was a
response.He
was able to push his leg up and boost himself back into the chair. He stared
for several minutes in disbelief. He felt strain in his leg...he
actually
felt his muscles stretching to lift the weight of his body. Then he
turned
his attention to his left leg and moved it with ease. "This isn't
possible,"
he spouted, the excitement and anticipation building in his voice. He braced
himself and, with all his strength, bended his knees and gradually stood. At
first,Logan leaned from side to side on his wobbling legs..soon
after,adapting.
Max had just finished her deliveries when she noticed her pager
going
off. "Damn Logan,i just saw you yesterday," she said to herself
with a
half
smile. She liked that Logan had made her a frequent dinner guest and
that
they could stay up half the night playing chess. She hadn't completely
come
to terms with her feelings for Logan. Those "feelings" surfaced
from
time
to time,at odd moments.Maybe during a brown-out or a mutual stare that
lasted a few seconds too long. When it came to Original Cindy and Kendra, she
avoided any explanation of her relationship with Logan. She marked him off as
just a friend, but the truth was she wasn't quite sure how deep their
involvement was or where it was going..if anywhere. She abruptly broke from
her thoughts when she rolled up to Logan's building. She casually walked up
to his door and knocked once before the door was quickly opened. She looked
to see Logan in his wheelchair wearing an unreadble expression. They said
their usual greetings and Logan just kept his vacant countenance.
"What's your poison?" she said, walking past him toward the
kitchen.He didn't say anything,but only stared at her."OOkay," she
said as she continued on her original course. She started to pour herself
some water when she smelled him near her.He had that delicious scent of musk
mixed with afer shave. She figured he had decided on have a drink after all.
Suddenly she felt strong arms wrap around her waist and hot breath on her
neck that caused a shiver shoot through her entire body, then soft kisses
tracing her neck. Was she dreaming? She felt the rough, bristly hair on his
face rub against her smooth cheek. She was intoxicated by his closeness and
overwhelming scent."Logan.." she whispered aloud, losing herself
in the moment. She felt certain that this was only one of her fantasys she
was entertaining at the moment and Logan was still in his wheelchair,
waiting for her to get a drink. She bit her lip and slowly turned
around..expecting the illusion to end.Logan only gave her a half-quirked
smile and closed what little space between them there was. Their lips fused
together as electricity flowed through both their bodies. When she finally
pulled away long enough to grab a breath. She stared into his eyes for a few
seconds."Logan, how did.." he cut her off with another kiss.Right
then she let down her shields. She wasn't trying to act like a bad ass,or
even sarcastic. She let down the barrier that hid most of her feelings..the
wall that having to fend for herself and constantly watch over her should
had made. She completely trusted Logan and let all of her suppressed feelings
roam rampid. She returned every bit of his kiss with the same passion and
desire.Logan had wanted this for so long and he was finally able to act on
it.
A harsh gleam of light intruded into his bedroom through the curtains. He
shut his eyes as tight as he could, willing it all to vanish, but when he
slowly opened his eyes the truth was cruel and merciless. He awoke to see the
stern
face of morning. To his left, there it was..in the exact place he had
left
it the night before.Logan let out a grunt in protest, but regretfully
accepted that it had all been a dream. He prepared to lower himself into the
wheelchair.
"Logan.." Max sleepily moaned. She stretched underneath her twisted
bed
sheets. She finally opened her eyes and looked around in confusion. Had it
been a dream? It felt so real.He felt so real. She could still taste his
firey
kisses and smell his musky scent. She frowned at herself for being
so
wrapped up in a dream. She got out of bed and began to get dressed..perhaps
today she would go over to Logan's and suprise him.
