| Empty Belfry and Surgery Batman & Wolvie head to Blackgate after the encounter w/ the �mini-sentinels� to question Mr. Freeze They frighten several guards GUARD: �Man I hate that guy. I think I need a new pair of pants.� BATMAN TO LOGAN: �It seems you�re not well liked.� LOGAN: �I thought he was talking about you.� BATMAN: �Of course you did.� Wolvie sets off metal detector, then frightens guards by showing them why Logan interrogates Freeze while Batman stays quiet in the shadows Freeze gives some info, including the name, Aaron Jones Logan seems confused when Batman calls Oracle and Spidey�s voice answers Batman & Logan investigate links between A. Jones, Criminals & D.Thomas Batman, Wolvie & Spidey respond to an attack on the police As Batmobile pulls up to shield 2 fallen cops, Logan jumps out and is shot in the head by a sniper. Batman pulls the 2 officers into an alley to safety, Logan stands up Unsteadily A missile is fired at Logan, and the open canopy of the Batmobile Spidey swings to the rescue, pulling Logan away, while leaning back and throwing up a triple strength web wall to absorb most of the explosion, saving the car The last standing cop is run over by a pair of criminals fleeing the scene Spidey fires web through window of speeding car, yanks, causing car to flip over Logan follows a menacing shape into the shadows of an alley on one side of the square Batman orders Spidey to follow a similar shape on the other side, but changes his mind and sends Spidey to back up Wolvie when Spidey informs him that the danger sense is much higher on Wolvie�s side. Batman chases several criminals into a housing complex Logan tracks whatever he�s following (reptilian in nature, according to his super-sniffer) into the sewers Spidey follows Logan, and almost gets a real up-close look at Wolvie�s claws before the Canucklehead realizes he has backup Batman falls into a trap, and after a quick fight, is overcome by approximately 20 skilled attackers. Something is injected into his cheek, and he is beaten unconscious Batman awakens at dawn, chained at the wrists to the floor, without his utility belt or items, except 2 hidden gizmos Batman is confronted by a mist creature, which he can only identify as a possible psychic projection based on ancient myths The creature offers him a trade, it won�t torture him if he tells it about �The magic� Batman�s first gizmo (acid pellets in gauntlets to dissolve chain) fails to eject properly He begins using body control to reduce blood flow to hands & wrists, loosening the grip of the chains, so that he might wriggle free with escape skill The creature tells batman �we have not existed for thousands of years� When Batman still refuses to talk, the creature begins to press his mind Although he is able to resist, he gets the sensation that the creature is only using a fraction of its abilities. It is compared to creeper vines finding the cracks in a wall and slowly breaking it down from the inside Batman reaches out for and receives contact with J�onn (M. Manhunter) J�onn displays a serious degree of power, and never before seen (by Batman) rage, utterly destroying the tendrils of the creature in Batman�s Mind The creature seems very surprised and tells Batman �Maybe the stories about you being some kind of demon have some merit after all�, then it attacks his mind again, this time in force Batman activates second gizmo (teleport pad built into boot soles) and escapes to the Batcave Meanwhile, while Batman was gone, Logan tracks the creature through the sewers of Gotham for over an hour, with Spidey slinking along with him At the Manor, Robin wakes Bobby, he seems very agitated Bobby asks him what is up, and Robin says �Batman�s been captured.� Bobby first thinks he�s kidding, then is shocked when he realizes it is not so Robin & Iceman head down to the cave, Robin dives off ledge, down to where the Redbird is. Bobby follows. Robin screeches out of cave w/ Iceman only half in the car Logan & Spidey continue their hunt, Spidey tosses Logan a rebreather when he has to go underwater Robin & Iceman case the scene of the trap. Robin impresses Bobby by finding scant clues and building a picture Robin leads Bobby into the sewers Bobby calls on the Professor to attempt to find the Batman, and is shocked again when the Professor tells him he was unable to locate Batman�s psyche anywhere on the planet and tells him this can be caused by shielding, and death. Logan & Spidey use morse code to communicate w/ one another in silence Logan leads Spidey through an underwater tunnel, emerging on the other side, he surfaces like a SEAL leaving the water, only to find Robin perched on a ledge waiting w/ Iceman behind him Robin has some suspicions about who could be involved Robin & Logan begin tracking again (Logan is better, but still impressed with Robin�s abilities) They spend a while tracking, and eventually emerge from the sewers They hop into the Redbird, Robin calls up the file on Killer Croc, and tells the others to familiarize themselves with it He describes his plan for assaulting the first likely hideout. Logan approves The crew storms the hideout, first upstairs in stealth (Robin & Wolvie)Then downstairs loudly. Iceman walls up any possible escape routes Robin & Wolvie cause mayhem to clear the room. Before they can charge the back, two bodies fly out the door. A strange man, who turns out to be Nightwing in disguise, storms out. No Croc there. Another raid or two follows w/o any results Suddenly, Robin just announces to everyone that Batman is back at the cave. The team heads home Upon his arrival back at the cave, Batman is contacted by Oracle. She asks him to come see her in the morning Batman discusses the creature with J�onn and updates his files, sending report of the encounter and the trap to all Bat-team & DJ members Bobby expresses some concern to Logan over the Prof�s inability to find Batman�s mind the night before. He seems reluctant to talk about it for fear of bugs in the room at Wayne Manor / Batcave Logan tells him to take it up w/ Jean. He does, and she tells him it is nothing he needs to be concerned about Everyone rests, at least a little After a short rest, Batman wakes up and realizes that subconsciously, he realized that something may or may not have been a little off about J�onn Bobby eats Batman goes to meet Oracle. Dick is there. Babs seems quite at ease. She drops the bombshell on him about her three years of work, designing and prepping space station in Jupiter orbit, and Safeguard hero team Bruce is impressed, and surprisingly enough, he tells her so Spidey and Dr. McCoy talk a little shop Logan asks for and gets an update on all the robotic attacks Logan asks Spidey to pull up the file on Catwoman Spidey sees it is restricted and tells him no w/o trying to access. He sends a message to Batman about the incident Bobby Eats Bruce heads off, in disguise, to meet Dick and Babs (also in disguise) Logan finds out that a 2nd Blackbird is being built Professor asks him to dig a little deeper into the Don Thomas affair Bruce goes w/ Babs & Dick to meet surgical team (she arranged same doctors who worked on Stark � they think this is a deal for Stark Enterprises) Surgery goes very well according to the doctors J�onn mind-wipes them all so they forget surgery ever happened Bruce comes to the conclusion this was what was off w/ J�onn, he was holding back from telling of his involvement in Oracle�s plan The three return to Wayne Manor via Batcave teleporter Babs to stay in Manor through her recovery |
