The World That Summer
The light shining in your eyes
Lingers in my memory
Like your sweet perfume I knew so well
A vision of you I clearly see
The smile on your face
Hear your carefree innocent laugh
The warmth of your body i long to embrace
And feel the touch of your soft lips
How abruptly it all came to an end
The laughs and the joy we shared as friends
To justify how it all fell apart
Would only lend creedence to a lie
Sometimes I try to forget
As the pain tears through my heart
When I realize how little I meant
How foolish I was from the start
The world that summer died
As you turned your back on me
My world that summer died
As you walked away from me
And all the tears I cried
Account for nothing but misery
Left me feeling empty inside
Believing the lies you told me
