Thieves are the hardest profession to discover a person is. To be a thief is almost to live a secret life, unless the thief is a dedicated employee of a greater power in which case they are either well known and thought of as a professional or soon dead. Other cases might include being a hired assassin since thiefs double in those rolls too at times. Still there are a few who find themselve taking on "jobs" from a Priest or Priestess from a Temple and even more rarely they do some work during times of War, be it sabatage, assassinations, or infiltration and recovery.
Thieves are usually Werecats, Wererats, or Humans, but now and again an Elf will be discovered to be a Thief. The Elves do make most of the thieving devices used by the thief. This is not a very well known fact but some do believe and have knowledge of it. Thieves carry a variety of unique tools to use on their "jobs". Some of these are lock picks, buckle knives, climbing claws, blow guns with special poisonous barbed darts, sheathes for blades disguised as canes, "invisible" ink, and a variety of different clothing to fit special purposes.
Most of the time if a person wishes to hire a thief (and they usually always have to be "hired", since a thief knows only they have the skills for a job if a person is looking) they must dig deep, finding someone who has hired a thief before and then going from there. The thief doesnt trust many and most have a friend or two who they let know about their profession. From the friend of the thief the outsider can make their offer. If the thief accepts it then they will approach the possible employer at a later time to go over the details if they wish or the thief may not ever meet the person in the flesh at all, preferring to keep their identity secret.
This leads on to the next thing about thieves. When they wish to spend a longer period of time in public to make work come easier they wear masks to conceal their identity. Some only wear a scarf or piece of silk over the lower half of their face while others wear full masks, hiding even the color of their hair and sometimes even what sex or race they are.
Note: Thieves must have a starting Agility Score of 15 or higher.
Note: At creation the Thief may choose one Thief Weapon from the Weapon Chart. Every level after the first they either choose another or create their own. If they choose to create their own, the weapon must be approved by a Host.
Note: Thieves do not wear any Metal Armor as it interfers with their stealth.
Note: Thieves have special skills they may learn. At creation the Thief may choose two that they know. Each new level they may learn one more. These skills all have a 40% chance of being successful when attempted.
