Critical Hits

When rolling to hit and the result is between 1 and 2 on a d100, it means the hit is critical. Depending on what part of the body was hit, results differ. Also the type of damage done matters, either piercing, slashing, or blunt. The area critically hit is randomly rolled unless the hit resulted on a Called Shot. In cases of Called Shots, no roll is needed to determine the body part. Two steps are taken when the critical hit is not a called shot.

Step 1:The first roll made on a critical hit is to determine the body part hit. A d6 is rolled for this.
1) Head
2) Torso
3) Right Arm
4) Left Arm
5) Right Leg
6) Left Leg

Step 2: Roll to see just how many additional effects and how much more damage the critical hit made. Another d6 is rolled for this.
Critical Hits
Roll
Effect
1
Minor Bleeding: 1pt damage per round until treated or healed.
2
Major Bleeding: +3 to initial damage. 1pt damage per round until treated or healed.
3
Solid Hit: +5 to initial damage. -5%hit if location was an arm. -5% evade if location was a leg. -5% to hit and evade if location was the head.
4
Broken Bone: Limb not useable until healed. (bone is not broken if the location is the head or torso, but additional damage is taken.) +5 to initial damage. 2pts damage per round until treated or healed.
5
Limb Severed (if piercing or slashing damage) Limb Crushed (if blunt damage): Target must make a Physical Resistance check to continue on with the battle. If the check is failed the target cannot fight until the limb is healed. Initial Damage is doubled. (if the location was the head or torso, the check must still be made and double damage is taken, but those parts are not severed or crushed.)
6
(reroll if location is not the head) Deadly Blow: Target has a chance of death. Target must make a Physical and Mental Resistance check. If either roll fails, the target rolls a d100. Mental Failure: if the result is 51 or higher the target falls into a coma until healed. Physical Failure: if the result is 51 or higher the target falls prone, unable to move and continue. If both checks fail, the target dies.

Note: Hand-to-hand attacks do not use the critial hits table unless the character is a Warrior Priest.
