When Dragons Cry
          By: Night Angel

All the things that had happened in the past had been forgotten, by the historians and the
residents. It was only talked about in the old history books. All the war and differences
that had led to so much bloodshed was rarely ever spoken of except by the elders of either
side. Both sides were allied now. They traded together and defended each other whenever
they needed it. They did not treat each other unfairly or anything. But they will soon learn
that it takes only one person to rekindle the old flames of war and that these flames can
bring all the suffering and bloodshed that they once held. It will take both sides to realize
that they are wrong and to come to an agreement. The only question is when will they
realize this. How many people will have to die in order for them to resolve their
differences and go back to their peace full way of life?
Dragonaria was the land of the dragons. They ranged from the fire dragons of the volcanic
areas to the icy land of the ice dragons. The water dragons were in the lakes, oceans, and
rivers. Sky dragons ruled the clouds over head. They would scout the lands and make sure
that there were no intruders. What was not taken up by the fire lands, ice lands, and
oceans, was a thick, dense jungle where they got their food and anything else they needed.
Each land had a head dragon that over saw all of there kind. For the fire dragons, Lord
Diablo and his mate Lady Shair. For the ice dragons, Lord Blizzed, and his mate Lady
Frost. For the water dragons, Lord Aqaniss and his mate Lady Hydra. For the sky
dragons, Lord Aero and his mate Lady Rainera. All of the rulers were fair and respected
by the dragons below them. All the lesser dragons knew that they could count on their
Lord and Lady.
Vampirea was the land of the vampires. It was a low-lit place. The sun was almost
completely invisible. And yet, despite the low light, there was abundant vegetation and
food. They would trade the meat that they had to the dragons in exchange for the exotic
blood that they could provide them with. Unlike the dragons, they were simpler in there
rulers. Their land was not as divided as Dragonaria. They were all one kind ruled by one
Lord and Lady. They were Lord Drake and Lady Dura. They both were good rulers. Their
people respected them and loved them. They were fair, and conversed with the dragons
very well. Most of the dragon rulers would sometimes tell them that they had the wisdom
of a wise old dragon. Vampirea was safe in their hands, and always would be.
Of coarse, this was all said before all the old and thought to be lost disputes were brought
back up. Thats when the entire empire of both Dragonaria and Vampirea almost
completely fell.
Diablo?, called his wife. Her elegant red sparkling wings were folded gracefully on her
back. Her shimmering red scaled body seemed to glimmer in the reflection of the fire all
around her. She was searching for her husband. There was a problem among some of the
dragons.
Diablo! She called again, her voice echoing thru the halls of their palace.
Yes, Shair, what is it, dear? Diablo answered as he came walking down a flight of stairs,
   Whats the matter, My Lady?
There seems to be some talk among the dragons about the Old Ways Shair told him.
She looked as if she had been worrying about it for a long time now.
What? But how? They were forgotten long after the wars ended. There is no way that
they could ever be brought back.
That is no longer true, My Lord. There are already small groups questioning if we should
be in alliance with the vampires. Some are even talking of revolt. Shair put her head
down. She always had a thought in the back of her head that this would happen.
Revolt. Diablo, surprisingly, did not really sound all that worried. He sounded so calm
and so content that Shair wondered about it. I will go talk with the other Lords and
Ladies of the other lands and see what we will do.
I cant believe that the old disputes have been brought back up. I thought they were all
forgotten. Shair said. Her eyes held fear and her worries about the revolt.
Dont worry, my dear. Diablo told her soothingly, nothing will happen. The other
Lords will know how to resolve this.
Shair could only put her head down. She did not think that this could be resolved. She
could only think that all of this talk would result in war with their once allied vampire
friends. This would bring nothing but pain, death, and suffering to both of there worlds.
She looked out after Diablo as he flew away to the land of the Ice Dragons.

Mean while, in the Land of Vampirea, tensions were also starting to build. Vampires all
around were starting to talk of the old disputes of the past and starting to question if they
should be allied with the dragons. They claimed that the events that had happened in the
past would soon happen again and it would only be a matter of time until they would
happen again. One of Lord Drakes messengers overhearing and understanding what was
about to happen, left quickly and quietly to warn his master.
How could they have brought up the old disputes? They have been forgotten about by
every one. Who has organized this? demanded Lord Drake. He was furious over the
questioning of the Alliance.
I know not their names, My Lord, the messenger said, humbly bowing before him, I
only know of what they said.
