At the Gate

At the gate,
Waiting to meet his reward,
He stands, memorizing his life, spent in struggle
Spent in faith, despite that all which was left in the end
Was a simple world
With simple truths
But he kept his heart to that other truth only.

At the gate
He remembers the promise
Spoken by yet another living man
That it all will be here

The reward
The proof of its realness
Everything he ever wished for

Everything he ever fought for to achieve.

At the gate
He sees the gate only.

And he realizes that this is his proof
His reward
His truth

And he steps through.
