The Jensari and the Animal
The Animal is a serious thing to the Jensari. We cultivate the Animal of our spirit and seek wisdom from it in matters of Combat and Life. It is the Jensari belief that all mankind has an Animal present in them, the spirit of an animal that cultivates life and aids in the contact to the force. When a Jensari turns to the force for an answer, it is the spirit animal who brings the message to us. The beginning process of learning the Jensari Way, after the Basic training of the Dark Side, is to discover your spirit animal.
This process is one of Birth and the development of the attitude and spirit you will posses and portray from that point forward.
The Jensari are known to wear pendants, clothes, symbols, body art, or any way they can come to, that represents the animal of their spirit. That spirit does guide the Jensari to victory in every encounter; be it school, or be it war. The first thing a Jensari student must do is find this animal. There are many ways to find the animal, the most popular being a Souljourn. A Souljourn is a meditation that can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days. It is wise to set aside a weekend to embark on your first souljourn. The process is that of a basic meditation.
Find a place with no one around, a peaceful and comfortable place, one that eases tension in you. Sit, stand, move, dance, do whatever type of meditation you favor the most. Delve deep inside yourself to the Darkness that resides in you. Push deeper and deeper until you are lost in yourself, completely engulfed in your own soul. Clear your mind. Keep it as blank as possible and ask a question to your subconscious... Ask " animal that lives inside, make yourself known , so that I may be guided by your wisdom." Now just sit and wait...keeping your mind clear and free of cluttering thoughts. Eventually your animal will show itself.
The Animal will show itself in different manners; maybe a visual picture in your mind of the animal as it is in nature, or possibly just the "feeling" of that animal. You don't know how, you just know what it is. Another way it shows itself is verbal. You hear the noise the animal makes. These are all ways to recognize your animal once it is shown to you. But don't misunderstand, there are many other ways to understand what it is saying.
Most people, without knowing, have already been in a small contact with their animal; maybe a fetish for cats, or wolves, or bats, snakes, turtles, whatever. Normally your spirit animal has been a represented figure in your life for as long as you have possessed life. You were just not aware of it. Your next step, once you recognize what your animal is, is research. Go to the library, buy books, watch documentaries, do whatever you can to learn more of your animal and the way it works in life. You will probably notice similarities there, things you have always done and not understood why. Now you do, it was your animal guiding you.
Once you have learned what it is that your animal does in the wilds, and how it acts in general , it will be time to see how it applies. If the animal has tendency to attack its prey, like it was on a time limit to finish, then apply that to your dealing with people,or combat. This is a very big part of the Jensari Way, so this should be the process first run through when you embark upon your mission to glory and power as one of the Jensari Warriors.
