Magic Materia is the most popular materia in Final Fantasy VII. There are several types of magic materia, ranging from a simple Cure to the devastating Ultima. In this section (Still under construction), you will find a complete list of Magic Materia.
Ice:                   Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Ice-Ice2-Ice3

Deals Ice damage to the enemy. Can be combined with "all" materia. Effective vs. Fire-type enemies
. This materia can be bought in most shops, and Cloud is initially equipped with it.

Fire:                 Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Fire-Fire2-Fire3
Deals Fire damage to the enemy. Can be combined with "all" materia. Effective vs. Ice-type enemies. This materia can be bought at most shops.

Lightning:         Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Bolt-Bolt2-Bolt3
Deals Lightning damage to the enemy. Can be combined with "all" materia. Effective vs. Water-type enemies. This materia can be bought at most shops. Cloud has this materia initially equipped.

Restore:            Growth Levels: *****
Upgrades: Cure-Cure2-Regen-Cure3
Cure Party members. Can be combined with "all" materia. Regen regenerates HP constantly. Deals damage to Undead enemies. This materia can be bought in most shops. Found in the first Mako Reactor.

Barrier:             Growth Levels: *****
Upgrades: Barrier-MBarrier-Reflect-Wall
Sets up a protective field around allies. Barrier protects against physical attacks (damage is halved), MBarrier protects against magical attacks (Damage is halved), Reflect bounces attacks back at enemy (No damage to you, half damage to enemy), and Wall sets up a force field that protects against everything (Magical and Physical damage is greatly reduced). Available in Rocket Town and beyond.

Comet:              Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: Comet-Comet2
Deals on-elemental damage to enemies. Comet2 targets random enemies. Can be found in the Lost City of the ancients.

Contain:            Growth Levels: *****
Upgrades: Freeze-Break-Tornado-Flare
Deals extreme damage to the enemy. Freeze deals ice damage and sometimes causes stop. Break deals powerful Earth damage and sometimes causes petrify. Tornado deals wind damage and sometimes blows enemy away. Flare deals fire damage. Recieve from White Chocobo in Mideel after it is destroyed. Feed it greens and scratch it behind the ears.

Destruct:            Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: DeBarrier-DeSpell-Death
Removes effects from enemy. DeBarrier eliminates Barrier and MBarrier, DeSpell removes status caused by spells (removes posion as well). Death attempts to immediately kill an enemy. Cannot be combined with "all" materia. Recieve from Sephiroth in the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. Can be bought in stores beyond Nibelheim.

Earth:                 Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Quake-Quake2-Quake3
Deals Earth damage to enemies. Can be combined with "all" materia. Useless vs. Wind enemies, flying enemies or enemies with "float" cast. Can be bought in Kalm and beyond.

Exit:                    Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: Escape-Remove
Allows party to escape from battles. Escape increases your chance of escaping, while Remove either removes an enemy from battle or misses. Available in Rocket Town and Beyond.

FullCure:            Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: [Nothing]-FullCure
Completely restores a single party members' HP. Must reach Level 2 before you learn the spell. Cannot be combined with "all" materia. Can be found in Cosmo Canyon on Disc 2. Climb through the window that was not accessible on Disc 1.

Gravity:               Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Demi-Dem2-Demi3
Deals Gravity damage to enemy depending on HP. Demi reduces HP by 1/4, Demi2 by 1/3 and Demi3 by 1/2. Recieved in the Cave of the Gi after defeating the Gi Master.

Heal:                    Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Poisona-Esuna-Resist
Helps protect against status effects. Poisona removes posion. Esuna removes abnormal status, and Resist protects against status changes. Bought in Kalm and beyond.

Mystify:                Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: Confu-Berserk
Effects the status of your enemy. Confu confuses your enemy, and berserk makes him randomly attack your party, but only with physical attacks. Can be bought in Gongaga and beyond.

Revive:                  Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: Life-Life2
Restores the life of your party members. Life brings back a member with very little HP. Life2 brings back a party member with full HP. Available in Junon and beyond.

Seal:                     Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: Sleepel-Silence
Helps neutralize foes. Sleepel puts an enemy to sleep until the yare physically attacked or it wears off. Silence prevents your enemy from using magic. Available in Junon and beyond.

Shield:                  Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: [nothing]-Shield
Creates ane extremely powerful force field that often nullifies both physical and magical attacks. Poison attacks are absorbed until Shield wears off. Must reach level 2 growth before you can cast Shield. Found in Northern Cave.

Time:                    Growth Levels: ****
Upgrades: Haste-Slow-Stop.
Effects the speed of you and/or your opponents. Haste increases speed. Slow reduces speed. Stop makes enemy unable to move. Available in Gongaga and beyond.

Transform:           Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: Mini-Toad
Alters shape of enemy/ally. Mini makes them small, and their attack/defense drops. Toad turns them into a frog and their attack/defense falls and they can't us magic, Limits, etc. Casting Mini/Toad on character afflicted by it will turn them back to normal. Can be found in Corel mountains and bought in msot shops.

Ultima:                 Growth Levels: ***
Upgrades: [nothing]-Ultima
Deals extreme non-elemental damage to all eneies. must gain 5000 AP before you can cast Ultima. Cannot be combined with "all" (doesn't need to be). Recieved in Corel on Disc 2 if you stop the train. If you don't stop the train the girl will sell it for 50,000 gil.

Master Magic:       Growth Levels: N/A
Upgrades: None
Master Magic will instantly grant you every spell listed above. No AP needed. Also, your HP, etc. isn't reduced by as much as having all of the materia on (reduced by about 10%). Can be found by mastering all materia listed above or by defeating Emerald Weapon and taking the Earth Harp to the old man in Kalm.
