| Fright Night
(1985 Directed by Tom Holland) The Story Centers around a High School Boy who suspects his new neighbor of being a Vampire. After witnessing the Vampiric activity he sets upon a mission to rid his neighborhood of this Vampire. I liked this movie, it was both entertaining and very humorous. It also had a cast which included acting greats Chris Sarandon, Roddy Mcdowell and William Ragsdale. It had some truly great vampiric scenes, and in true Hollywood tradition he was the stereotypical Vampire of that period (80's). Surprisingly the visuals an effects were pretty good considering this was not a high budget movie, an when this was coupled with some atmospheric sounds, it really added to the thrill. Some parts were a little cheesy but on the whole this has to be one of my favorite movies for that period. This is worth renting from your local video store. In contrast Fright Night II was a total loss, an is a good example of how not to make a sequel, stealing some sounds an effects from the first movie and following a weak plot with a new bunch of actors is never a good idea. William Ragsdale was the only saving grace for the sequel it was a pity to see his talents wasted in such a poor movie. My Rating: 8 (10 indicates a Great Movie) |
