The Expedition to High Fort Cameron - 10/30/2005
Excerpts from Edwin's Journal, from 10/30 to 11/1.

Day 1 : Leg 1 - Prologue
At the dawn of the 30th day of the month November, 7 men (or boys, rather) set off for the expedition to the Highlands of Fort Cameron. They were, FJ, CH, Csan, Mr. Loo, Alex, Jman, and me, myself.

The gathering was held in the residence of CH while awaiting Jman bringing FJ over before starting the long journey to the Fort. And once again, the LMTSU (Last Minute Things Screwed Up) scenario nearly occured when the meeting place suddenly became undecided whether it was in CH's or Jman's residence. Luckily, with Mr. Loo's wisdom, the problem was quickly remedied. When all problems were finally resolved (at least it would seem that way =) ), we set off to begin the journey at exactly 0826 hours. There wasn't much to mention at the first 1 hr 24 mins of the journey other than Csan was alittle slow at the toll booth and was rather left behind at first. Good thing generous Jman waited for him at the shoulder of the road.

About nearly 2 hrs 21 minutes into the journey, we stopped at a rest area by the highway to have some refreshments. Had Dunkin Doughnuts (or was it Donuts???) and some coffee to revitalize the men. FJ and I on the other hand, decided to have some KFC solid meal to even out for the breakfast we missed in the morning. Some people from HSBC set up a caravan and finding people to approach to attract them to apply for the HSBC credit card. Csan was approached by a fine lady, telling him all about the benefits of the card... until Csan told her, "I work in the Bank." then she started mentioning all the RESTRICTIONS about the card. XD... But for me... when I was approached... I decided to test a theory, what if I had a Ph.D instead? (I do not have a Ph.D but I will get it someday hopefully...grrr.... first got to finish my M.Sc in EE first). So I told the lady all the crap about Ph.D and she immediately recommended me a class of credit card that has hell of alot of benefits and privileges like... near unlimited credit. Oh crap... It does pay off to have a Ph.D these days, let's all go get one. =)

After our refreshing stop at the rest area, we proceeded to resume our journey to Fort Cameron. Upon entering the foothill area, roads became winding and many sharp turning points were encountered. Despite encountering such difficulty, Jman and Csan's determination to negotiate the curve proved that no roads are going to break them, they went through all of them successfully thanks to their superior experience on the road. Along the way, some shots of the scenery by the roads was taken when ascending the hills to Cameron. Oh yes, Csan nearly missed the turning to the foothills when he speeded off without looking and we were all laughing at him from Jman's car. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

It takes great skill to drive on the other side of the road and take pictures at the same time. = ) Beautiful landscapes of small standing cliffs are seen as we ascend the hill. Again taken when driving the opposite site of the road.
Because of the continuing increase in the steepness of the road, fuel consumption became ridiculously high to the point that the Auto gear car of Csan's began to run low on fuel during the journey 3/4 way.
So bad to the point that the digital fuel gauge indicator began to flash like crazy. Mr. Loo who is on board Csan's car keep calling CH on Jman's car to tell him about the problem. Despite this, Jman said they should press on as they are now closing on the final destination of Arthurius Residence. And the journey continued. We pressed on and continue passing narrow roads in the smaller towns along the way to the Authurius. As this is the highlands, fuel stations are scarced. So they kept driving and driving hoping to locate a fuel station. Mr. Loo kept his cool despite everyone panicked. CH was quietly praying for Csan, or was he? And our prayers were answered when we finally came close to the Authurius Residence and found a fuel station...yes and it's the only fuel station in that area. With great sense of relieve both cars went to refuel and the passangers decided to stretch the bodies alittle.
And upon finish refuelling, the men continued their journey as the Arthurius was only a few hundred kilometers away. The entrance to the Authurius residence was nearly invisible as the sign board that points to it was... well invisible, or was it somebody who took it down? It took awhile for the men to find the camouflaged entrace. And that was the least of their problems when the men was unsure which was their apartment number. Mr. Loo tried asking an old lady there but he didn't manage to acquire much information. ...until.... I step forward to speak with the same lady in Cantonese and manage to get more info about our reserved apt. number.
Cantonese is still of use after all. =)
Practing some sparring using stances while waiting the cars to finish refuelling.
