1st
May - Jonathan Harker left

May - Jonathan Harker reached
3rd
May, nightfall - Jonathan Harker reached Bistritz. He stayed at the Golden
Krone Hotel, where he received a letter of welcome from Dracula.
4th
May – He found that his landlord was pretending not to understand his German on
inquiries for details. Both the landlord and his wife would not tell Jonathan
Harker anything about Dracula.
When he was
leaving Jonathan’s landlady gave him a crucifix and warned him not to go and
see Dracula, warning him that at midnight “all evil things in the world would
have full sway”. Jonathan ignored the warnings.
5th
May – Passengers on the coach, as well as passers-by outside the inn, seemed to
fear for Jonathan. He saw many guards against the evil eye.
6th
May – Along the road, the driver of Jonathan’s calèche seemed strangely relieve that Dracula
was not waiting for Jonathan. He was about to continue to
8th
May – Jonathan was shaving when Dracula suddenly greeted him. Jonathan was
surprised because there seemed to be no reflection of Dracula in any mirror. On
noticing that Jonathan had cut himself, Dracula flung the shaving glass out of
the window. Later he found that he was a prisoner in the castle, and panicked.
8th
May, Midnight – Jonathan had a long talk with the Count.
12th
May – Dracula asked Jonathan to stay for a month in the castle. Later Jonathan
saw the Count climbing out of the castle down a wall, “just as a lizard moves
along a wall”.
15th
May – Once again Jonathan saw the Count climb down the castle wall.
16th
May – Jonathan had an encounter with the vampire brides.
18th
May – Jonathan found that the room in which he had seen the brides was sealed.
Forcibly.
19th
May – Jonathan tried to get the gypsies who were camping outside to deliver his
letters.
31st
May – Jonathan found that every scrap of paper, his writing materials and his
travel items with his clothing had vanished.
17 June – Found
that his room had been sealed. He called to Slovaks for help, in vain.
24th
June – Jonathan saw the Count climbing out of his window in the suit Jonathan
had worn when he had arrived at the castle. Later he beheld a horrifying scene
in which the mother of a baby Dracula had stolen was devoured by wolves (that
Dracula had summoned).
25th
June – Climbed into Dracula’s room. Saw Dracula lying in the chapel, with no
signs of life to prove that he was alive.
29th
June – Tried to leave Dracula’s castle, but Dracula summoned wolves which made
him wait till morning.
30th
June – Saw Dracula once again in the chapel. Dracula was “lying there like a
filthy leech, simply gorged with blood”. Tried to kill Dracula but only cut his
forehead. Jonathan later tried to escape castle Dracula by scaling that castle
walls down.
