"So," Teri said conversationally to Kiana. "Kizzi, did you actually /tell/ him what you did to those chocolate pops..." she asked amused. "And I added a bit before I left," she smirked again. Kiana grinned back. "I /was/ looking forwards to /showing/ him till you got here," she pouted. "And anyway, what did /you/ do to them?" she teased. "Maybe we should show him," Teri avoided the question. She turned innocent looking eyes up to Vachon. "What do you think Vach...?" Chpt 4, Eyes of Blue ******************** Teri Vachon looked down into twin pairs of matching blue eyes, both gazing adoringly, almost hungrily up at him. It made him just a tad uncomfortable, since he was much more accustomed to being the predator and not the prey. Blue eyes. Why was it always blue eyes? He was such a sucker for them, and it tended to get him in so much trouble! "_I_ think that you girls need to stop avoiding my question," he said, attempting to be stern but not being very succesful at it. "The chocolate?" In answer, Kiana ducked her eyes away away from his and began playing her fingers across his chest again while Teri was stroking his hair back away from the side of his face and staring intently in the vicinity of his left ear. Even though he had recently fed, the attention sent chills down his spine. His eyes flashed amber for a moment and he could feel his fangs itching to descend, but with an iron grip on his will power, he shook it off and stepped back away from the mortals. He hated losing friends that way! "Uhhh..ahem,"he sounded a little self-conscious as he took each girl by one arm and held them firmly in front of him where he could keep an eye on them both at the same time. His once-again-brown eyes froze both of them in place, though not hypnotically induced, and the girls wilted under his unwavering gaze. With a sigh he let go of them and stepped back, burying his hands in his jacket pockets and studying the pouting girls before him. "What am I going to do with you two?" he asked rhetorically. Both heads snapped up, blue eyes glowing with impish glee, mouths opening to answer. Vachon's hands came out of his pockets with vampire speed as if to fend off their unspoken words. "Don't...!" he said sharply, struggling not to laugh,"....don't say it! Or I'll take you BOTH back to the castle and dunk you in the Ice-water Vat myself!" "ME?????" whined Teri, "What did _I_ do? _She_ started it! I was perfectly content just to sit there and enjoy a quiet conversation with you! We were in NO danger of being hosed down, then _she_ comes along and has to ask for chocolate Vachon-pops...LIFE-sized at that! And then Miklos was all too helpful by dropping them off, and....." "Nah, wait a minute!" interrupted Kiana,"_I_ left the Vachon-pops with you, and nobody _made_ you start nibbling on 'em, you can't blame ME for that! And nobody said you had to come out looking for us...." This time Vachon's sigh was notably more exasperated as he seriously considered knocking their heads together and flying off into the night without them. Feeling his disapproval, both girls subsided and tried to look properly chastised though casting sulky looks at each other. "Are you through?" he asked, pinning them each in turn with that incredibly irresistable stare of his. "Are we friends again?" Their only answer was to shuffle their feet and try not to glance at each other again."Umm-hmmm," he intoned knowingly. Women! He shook his head and sighed again, pointedly ignoring the way Teri watched his hair dance with the movement of his head. "I think it's time to take you back to the castle until you work out your differences and remember that you _are_ friends." ...and so I can see for myself what sort of damage you did to those Vachon-pops, he added silently. "Uh...back to the castle...? Now?" Kiana sounded almost fearful again as she remember her earlier chilling thoughts. She turned to Teri, already forgetting their little squabble. "Was anybody else there when you left?" "Anybody else?" "Yeah, like, any .....vampires?" Teri looked at her friend like she was losing her mind, "Any.....vampires...?"She repeated blankly. "Yeah, you know....like LaCroix?" "Why would LaCroix be......" Understanding slowly dawned as Teri realized her friend seemed almost terrified at the thought of the 2000 year old Master visiting the castle. "You're really afraid of him!" she laughed insensitively, not noticing how Kiana cringed before the accusation. "LaCroix is nothing to worry about! Just be sure to show him a good level of respect, and kiss his ass every now and then, and he's a pussycat!" Even Vachon's eyebrows went up at this and both he and Kiana stared at Teri as if _she'd_ lost her mind. Suddenly Vachon's head came up and he turned to stare off toward the castle, his eyes actually seeming to focus more inward than to really be seeing. "Well, somebody's at the castle," he said thoughtfully. "I can't tell exactly who from here......"
