A Screed Filk Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2000 Okay I appologize for this one, and just to let you know, for all that I am a UFer and a NightHavener I am NOT a RatPacker. However this one kept insisting on being done. It is based on a little well know tune called Jack and the Jolley Tar. In fact I didn't change a word. Just added comments about it between Vachon and Screed, which change the song which end up adding a whole new meaning to the song. Once again I don't own Vachon or Screed, my muse just took them out for a little fun. The song Jack of the Jolley Tar is public domain and therefore fair game. Permission to archive to the fanatics and Teri only all other please ask first. Stephni Warner June 2000 Oh I am Jack of the Jolley Tar I have just returned from the sea so far. Oh I am Jack of the Jolley Tar And I 've just returned from the sea so far. Hey diddly ding-go. hey diddly dee. As Jack was walking to London city he heard a Squire talking to a Lady. And Jack did hear the Squire say Tonight, with you love I mean to stay. Hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee. Oh tie a string around your finger and hang the other end , out the window. Oh I'll slip by and pull the string and you'll come down love, and let me in. Hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee. Damn me, says Jack, if I don't venture And come and pull that string hanging out the window So he slipped by and pulled the string and the Lady came down and let him in. Hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee. The Squire came by all in a passion Cursing the women all in their fashion Oh look no string I found he said Now all my hopes have gone all but dead. Hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee Early in the morning the moon was gleaming The Lady woke up and started screaming. She saw ol' Jack in his tawny shirt His face all streaked and smeared with dirt. Hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee. Oh what is this my tarry sailor Have you broken in to steal my treasure Oh no, says Jack, I just pulled the string and you came down and let me in. Hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee. Then says Jack, Oh would you please forgive me I'll steal away so no one will see me. No, says she, don't stray to far, For I never will part with my Jolley Jack Tar hey diddly ding-go Hey diddly dee. Diddly dee. Vachon turned away from the drunken sailors in the pub, and shaking his head, returned to Screed. "Wha...Ya sayin' ol' Screedy can' 'av some fun on 'is own now mate?" Vachon gave his friend a long look then smiled. "You know Screed one of these days you really are going to have to tell me the truth about how you came to be Lady Edgeworth's consort." "All's ye 'av ta do is lisen to tha song mate. Tha's what I been atellin' ya. Jus' lisen to tha song." Screed thumped his master on the back as they walked out of the pub and into the night. ==== Stephni -- danu40k @ rocketmail.com http://www.geocities.com/danu40k/MerryBand.html The Cowardly Realist Founding Member of the Merry Band Of Foul Up's
