Be Careful What You Ask For Part 6 ********************************** by GersGal1--7 Sep 2000 After the tea party, Danu decided to escort Sherri thru the halls of the castle. Danu waited patiently as Sherri lingered in certain rooms, hallways and the like. Suddenly, Nick stepped into Danu's view from behind a pillar. "I wish to speak with Sherri, alone", Nick told Danu. "Do you think this is wise?", asked Danu. "I give you my word I will keep her safe. No harm will come to her. I will see to it that no one takes advantage of her", Nick promised Danu, an old acquaintance and friend. "So be it", Danu responded to Nick's wishes, "But beware of La Croix". "I will", Nick agreed. And with that, Danu departed and left Sherri alone with Nick. Sherri was wandering thru the castle just ahead of Danu and was not aware that Danu had departed and she was alone with Nick. "I will miss this place greatly", she murmered, thinking her words fell upon Danu's ears. "Then why go?", asked Nick, feigning Danu's voice. "I must find my place in the world", Sherri said in an almost melancholy tone, "I have called this castle my home for far too long now. It is time for me to travel on. To grow, to expand, to explore all that this world and life has to offer". "And hide", Nick said, still in Danu's voice. "No, I hide from nothing. I just need to...", Sherri's voice trailed off. "You hide from your true feelings", Nick told Sherri, "I am a seer, and I know what you refuse to admit". "And just what is that", Sherri spun around and faced the entity that appeared to be Danu to her. "The fact that you are taken by the vampire Nicholas. You just refuse to admit it to yourself, nor anyone else", Nick said as He moved closer to Sherri, "But you owe me the truth as a friend". "Don't try to put words into my mouth, Danu!", Sherri exclaimed, "If I had a thing for a vampire, do you think I would be armed with holy water?" "I will leave you now, as you do not seem to want my presence", Nick said, imitating Danu. He turned from Sherri and began to walk away slowly. "Wait!", Sherri almost cried out, "Please don't go". Nick stopped in His tracks. "Then you will share with me the truth? You will be honest, as a friend should?", Nick said, "Not a high price to pay for my rescuing you from being brought across". "Okay", Sherri said, "I'll fess up. I am leaving because I am afraid of Nick. Now are you happy?" "Afraid of Nick?", Nicholas asked, "Why on earth would you be afraid of Him? He won't force Himself upon you." "Because He,...because He....", Sherri stammered, "Because I like Him too much!" "Ah, the truth at last", Nick said to her, still appearing to her as Danu. Sherri looked down at her shoes, "I am taken with Him, yet I am scared out of my wits by the fact I may at sometime beseach Him to bring me across". Nick allowed Sherri to see Him now. No longer did He make her believe she was engaging in conversation with Danu. When Sherri came to the realization that she was alone with none other than Nick Knight, she instinctively reached for her holy water pistol, and instantly remembered that she no longer had it in her possession. She spun around and fled from the handsome vampire. Nick persued her slowly, for He knew she could no longer run from her true feelings. He knew that she could attempt to flee to the far corners of the earth, but she could not flee from her hidden infatuation with Him. Sherri ducked into her own room and slammed the door behind herself. She was so out of breath from running that she felt as if her chest would explode at any given moment. She was safe now in her sun-drenched room full of crosses and garlic and everything else held in distain by the undead. As soon as she caught her breath, she walked over to her bed and collapsed upon it in sheer exhaustion. WIthin minutes, she was sound asleep. Sherri awoke to see Nick standing at the foot of her bed, looking down at her. Sherri sat upright. How could this be? She had taken all the precautions necessary to make this a safe haven from unwanted intruders, yet this "thing" stood above her. "I had someone clense the room for me", Nick read her thoughts, "And the sun has set". Nick walked over to the edge of the bed and stood even closer to Sherri now. "Do not be afraid", He whispered to her in that sultry voice of His, "I will leave you unharmed and intact. I want only one thing from you". "What?", Sherri inquired. "One kiss. One harmless kiss, and then you will be rid of me forever". Sherri shuddered at the thought. But she was willing to do almost anything to bring this nightmare to a close, so she stood up in front of Nick, closed her eyes and kissed His lips. They tasted sweeter than honey and she liked kissing Him. She quickly pulled her lips away from His. Nick took her hand and led her out into the hallway and summoned Danu. "Take her where she wants to go, even if it is away from here", Nick told Danu. Danu took Sherri's hand and started to lead her away. Sherri watched as Nick disappeared from her sight. "Wait", Sherri told Danu, "I will get more crosses and garlic. I want to spend one last night here in the castle in my own room". Danu raised an eyebrow, but agreed to help Sherri do as she wished. Once her room was again a safe haven, Sherri settled down in her bed for the last time. In the morning she would pack and leave the castle. Soon Sherri fell fast asleep. She never imagined she would dream of the handsome blond Nick Knight, and of their kiss, and how much she had enjoyed it and how she longed for more.... To be continued.....
