April 13, 2000 When last we left our intrepid heroes, Nick and Tracy had gone back to work, with Nick promising Jody that he would see her later. Lacroix and Perry had disappeared for a little talk. And Jody was left to her own devises. Now, on with the story. THE PERRY AND JODY ROUND ROBIN Part 8 by Stephni Warner Urs came up to Jody as the others left."You must be one of the new carouches that Screed has been telling me about." Jody nodded hesitantly. She had learned that not all vampires liked carouches. Urs, understanding the young fledge's hesitancy, put out her hand. "My name is Urs. Don’t worry; I don’t have a problem with carouches. I used to travel with one." Jody smiled shyly and took Urs’ hand. "Jody." Urs sat next to her. "Hope you don’t mind, but I overheard part of your conversation with Nick." Jody tried to withdraw inside herself.Urs put a hand on the young fledgling's shoulder. "I’m probably one of the few around here who understands how you feel, outside of Nick. I’ve never liked the killing either. However I think there’s a way for you to please your master AND not kill an innocent." Jody looked up in surprise. "Trust me." Urs stood and waited for Jody to join her then led her out of the bar and to the skies. They landed on a secluded portion of the wharfs. Jody looked around, confused as to what Urs had in mind. Urs, on the other hand, was looking intently at a group of old warehouses. "There." Urs headed quietly over to the buildings. Jody followed her example still trying to figure out what Urs was up to. They reached the alleyway between the two buildings, and there, Jody saw something she had never seen before. A Cat-Pack. The cats had cornered an old junkyard dog, and were slowly moving in for the kill. Each taking a well timed strike at the dog in turn. The dog was weakening with each strike. Jody’s temper raised, she attacked the attackers, grabbing one. Urs not far behind, scattering all attempts at a counter-attack. Jody had not expected the cat to put up such a fight, and it was several moments before she had the cat in a position for the kill. The blood, while not her usual, was sweet with the kill. The memories more distinct and chilling. Urs watched as Jody walked the carcass to the edge of the wharf and dropped the body into the lake waters below. She followed as Jody took the skies, following the memories. They landed in a small housing area near the wharves. Jody looking up at it, a look of disgust on her face. "Well?" Jody came back from her thoughts and looked at Urs. "Do you know what goes on in there?" Urs shook her head. "Let’s just say that drugs and kiddie porn are the least of it and leave it at that huh? Come on, I seriously need to talk to Nick...AND Perry. He’s not going to like it either." ********
