Wed, 7 Jun 2000 A Guiding Darkness, Part 7 ************************** by Madison ((after cheesy dream sequence)) Nick awoke with a start with a strangled scream caught in his throat. His forehead was dripping with bloodsweat and he could not seem to catch his breath. And he was ravenous. These trips away from Natalie at her ‘time of the month’ had been giving him stranger and stranger dreams, worse each time. He stumbled to the hotel mini bar and pulled out a familiar bottle, yanked out the cork and drank hungrily. By the third healthy swallow, he grimaced and nearly spat it all out. It was cold. It was dead. It was not her. His excuses for leaving would need to be more inventive. The dream of her naked was still burning behind his eyes. How La Croix managed to get in there still made him shiver with revulsion. LaCroix that close to his... Natalie? He had a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach that he was after her, or simply tormenting her. But, until he could get his own desire under control, there was no way he could trust himself to be within a 20 mile radius of his luscious doctor. Still naked, he dragged himself to the bathroom and flipped on the glaring lights, wincing at the brightness. He looked fine, better having had something to drink. But his eyes were still haunted. He put down the bottle and splashed cold water over his face, watching the blood tainted water swirl down the drain. Then, he smiled slowly, laughing to himself. Nudist colony? Mom? His laughter grew when he realized how ridiculous the dream had been. He turned off the light and left the bathroom. He opened the blinds and drapes to the hotel room and looked out at the night. The stars twinkling as they always have. The Goddess moon full and bright (that was usually Nat’s time, he said to himself, could never sit and joy a full moon with her. I’d be too busy trying to be a gentleman and not....’ he turned off his thoughts for a moment to catch his breath.) He did have a feeling LaCroix knew exactly why he was leaving town every month and he feared his father would use that against him and go after the one woman he truly cared about. He knew LaCroix’s powers were strong, but had he been the one to implant the dream to clue Nick in on what he was doing? Maybe he should call Nat. He reached for the phone when he remembered what had happened just before he left town.... ((now - who was next?)) ********* send feedback to Smutcutter @ aol.com
