The Las Vegas Links Page

This is mostly for my upcoming b-day trip.  Anyway a couple folks have
already asked for some help getting travel info, so I'll be adding links here to help everyone out.

A couple caveats:
I use these for reference, however since I'm a member of several casino clubs I normally get some very cool offers through those.  If you're already a member of one of these check with the particular site and sign up for their newsletter etc.  You may even find a good deal on their site already.  I typically fly via Southwest Airlines:  cheap, close to ontime and a good frequent flyer program.  You can find cheaper although double check the times of the flights some of them have you flying at 6am (most of the time that's in the HELL NO category for me).

Casino Opinions
The LV Hilton is off the Strip (on Paradise Rd actually) but only by about a block on the North End.  Overall nice rooms and if you want to go Star Trek the Experience that's where you want to be (they normally have some kind of deal if you book your room through them).

Station Casino's is a local's orientated group of casino's.  What that means is normally lower table limits (like you can find $5.00 blackjack tables), usually many resturants, movie theaters, bowling alleys etc etc.  The slots also tend to be a little looser.  Each one has a slightly different set of amenties so check them out.  Texas and Palace Stations are the ones I've stayed at.  Rooms are ok, not great.  If you want a luxury room go someplace else.  If however you just want a place to crash these work out pretty well.  Palace is closest to the Strip, Texas and the Rancho Fiesta are in the Northwest part of the valley (North Las Vegas actually) as is Santa Fe Station.  Sunset is in Henderson, it's the newer but it's a pain to get to Henderson IMO.  Boulder Station is on the Boulder Strip (basically a set of local's casinos) and is a bit off strip.

The Riveria is on the Strip, but well the folks who work there aren't the friendliest in my experience and look to be tired.  Normally you can get a pretty good deal there and the rooms are pretty good.  I've never actually won there, so I'm not likely to go back (at least to stay).

Coast Casino's are another set of local's orientated casinos.  I've only stated at the Suncoast, and while it's very nice, it is WAAAAAAYYYY off the Strip.  Probably about 15 minutes via Freeway, if there isn't much traffic.  Barbary Coast I believe is just off the Strip.

Check out the last link for more info on various casinos.  I have not been to every place in Vegas so I don't really know and I've stayed at less.  Do sign up for their club cards especially if you think you'll be coming back to Vegas.  If you go to Reno at all it's worth it to join the Circus Circus club (includes 10 properties including I believe the ones in Reno.  Excalibur, Luxor, Circus Circus etc).
