Romania is an Eastern-European nation bordering Bulgaria to the South, Yugoslavia and Hungary to the West, Ukraine to the North, and Moldova to the North-East. Its two main rivers are the Olt and the Mures, crossing through the mountainous heart of the country. At the same time, the Danube is also an important river as it is an abundant natural resource and acts as a border between Romania and her southern neighbor, Bulgaria. Romania is rich in topographical variety, from the peaks of the Carpathian Mountain Rage to the shores of the Balck Sea, the latter bordering the nation's South-Eastern coast.
Romania came under a communist regime in the 1940's, and became a democratic nation after the end of the Anti-Communist Revolution in 1989. This is my country of origin. I left it when I was 12 years old. In the early 90's, my father made the courageous decision that my mother, he and I should move away from the hardships of this once communist nation, and seek a better life in Canada. It is because of my father's strength that I have so many opportunities today. Thank you dad.
I have not revisited Romania since my arrival to Canada in 1996. Altough I don't remember many of the people I knew as a child, I recall and very much miss the places and landscapes I grew up with. The few pictures on this page are a testimony of the natural beauty of this nation.
