| Sptbg County Deed Book M pgs 112-113, 10-26-1808, Drury and Jerimiah McMillion witnessed a deed from John Poole to Richard Turner for land on S side of Pacolet River and Cherokee Creek. Ditto: book N pg. 470, 6-15-1811 Lot Warren, and Drury McMillion witnessed a deed from Ruben Warren to John Low Sr., on land on IslandCr of Pacelot River. Ditto: Book O pg 1330-131, 7-24-1814: Drury McMillion sold 100 acres on N side of Pacolet and on Cool Spring Branch Tillotson Brookshear. Witness James McCarley and Drury McAbb. Land located on a road between Cowpens (my note: Cowpens location of famous Revolutionary War Battle) and Coulters Ford (My note that is across the line in NC) (My note this seems to be the same land that Drury bought in 1809 from Thomas Rees. The abstract of the deed states Tyger River, but whether typo occured in Deed, or abstract this appears to be Pacelot River this is the only mention of Drury in this set of abstracts. I believe the Jerry who witnesed the deed in 1804 with John Brookshear is the same as Jermiah above, Jerimiah is probably a close relative of Drury. If Drury moved on after selling land in 1814, Jerimiah might have gone along, as I find no mention of him after witnessing a deed with Mannering Brookshire in 1810. Seller was John Brookshear and buyer was John Trail for land on Pacelot River. It was quite common for relatives to sign as witnesses so there is a high probability that Drury or Jerimiah married a Brookshire or perhaps their mother was a Brookshire. |
| This all comes in a letter from Max B Trout who is looking into the Robert McMillion line from Spartenburg SC. 1800 Census list: Drury, Robert died 1791. His letter I believe there was a Drury McMillen on the 1800 Census, but I never figured out how he was related to my Robert McMillen who died there in 1791. All I know is my Robert McMillen's will lists 3 children: Hugh, Andrew, and Mary Ann, wife Janet, and brother John. Near by was a William McMillen relationship unkown, I do not know what happened to William or John or Drury, Appearently they died without survivors or moved on. About that time many of the neighbors were moveing to TN VA KY or OH. My guess is that Drury was related at least distanly to all of them and possibly to Joseph McMillin who left for TN about this time. M T |
