'Good intentions' conceal real goals

Sunday evening's pious speech by President Bush was not convincing. Forgotten were all the reasons he gave just months ago for invading Iraq. Forget weapons of mass destruction or nuclear threats. Now, contrary to all reports and evidence, it is terrorism itself we have fought against and continue to fight.

No mention is made of how much of the $87 billion will go to Dick Cheney's beloved Halliburton and other corporations blessed by this administration. The pious mourning of our soldiers by a man who avoided military duty was shameful.

Giving Bush more than the benefit of the doubt, it may be that he has the good intentions he expressed in his speech. But we all know where that road leads.
