HIGH VALUE CROPS PROGRAM


Goal:

Empower  the  private  sector  to  expand  investments in  high  value crops,  thereby  increasing  their  contributions  to  economic  growth  and  producer’s  income,  and  consumer’s  health  and  welfare.

OBJECTIVES :

Food Security
To fulfill food security requirement s by enhancing the ability to produce or procure high value crops.

Encourage Private Sector Investment 
To increase private sector investments in agribusiness through policy reforms and advocacy, access to financing and cost-effective incentives.

Expand Income Opportunities 
To expand income opportunities for producers and other entrepreneurs especially from value-adding activities.

Provide Improved Technologies 
To provide improved technologies for fresh and processed forms of high value crops towards meeting world standards for competitiveness.

         Increase Access to Modern and Sustainable Technologies
To increase access to modern and sustainable agricultural technologies and production schemes through improved government technical support services as well as innovative working arrangements with the private sector such as cost-sharing schemes.

        -   Reduce Post Harvest Losses
To reduce postharvest losses through improvement of rural infrastructure in order to increase and improve quality of produce of high value crops.
