Metallica Concert
April 26....A day to remember
What's the importance of the date April 26 you ask?....It's the day METALLICA came to Norfolk, idiot.  Yes, Metallica came to Norfolk, and Me, Matt Moody, Matt Williams, Matt Adams, Mandy Adams, and Paul Adams took a break off school/work to take up on this occassion.
When we got to the Scope, we had to wait outside for about an hour. When we were finally let in, we made our way to buy our shirts (which there was not a very great selection). Then we all headed down to the floor, where we would be the rest of the night. They were playing Pantera and Alice In Chains in the background while we were waiting for Godsmack to set up.  Eventually, Godsmack finally came on stage and entertained us all for a good 40 minutes or so.  They were really heavy and made me become a fan. I got in the mosh pit 2 times by myself. The first was during Awake I think. The second time was during Bad Religion and I ended up having my back thrown out, so that was it for the rest of the night in the pit. I can't remember all the songs Godsmack played but their setlist looked a little like this.....Faceless, Awake, Bad Religion, Whatever, Keep Away, I Stand Alone, and Voodoo. I can't remember anymore, but they did have a 10 minute thing when Sully made his way to a drumset and him and Shannon played dueling solo's. That was real entertaining. Surprisingly, Sully is a better drummer than vocalist.
Well after seeing Godsmack we had to wait for another good while for Metallica to set up.  Finally the lights went dim and out came the 4 Horsemen.  They opened with Blackened, and that's just about when I orgasmed.  We all got divided up during them because the floor was crazy and we all had to make our ways to our suitable spots. Me and Matt Adams were fighters and worked our way up to the front, while Matt Moody, Matt Williams, Mandy, and Paul headed towards the back a little to avoid being killed.   Matt Adams branched off to the left, I branched off to the right, and after that I didn't see him again untill after the concert. So I enjoyed the rest of the concert bymyself.  Their setlist was.....Blackened, Fuel, Four Horsemen, Sanitarium, Frantic, I Disappear, St. Anger, Sad But True, Creeping Death, Fade To Black, Battery, No Leaf Clover, Nothing Else Matters, Master Of Puppets, One, Enter Sandman, Jump In The Fire, and Whiplash. We were the lucky ones who ended up with the best setlist.  During the concert I made eye contact with James Hetfield for probably 5-10 seconds, which was an incredible feeling. When they were done, they threw their picks out in the crowd. Then the best thing that has ever happened to me happened.....heading in my direction came James Hetfield's pick. It went bobbling off 10 different hands and fell to the floor. I immediately dove down and scrambed around for it, when......I FOUND IT. I then put it in my pocket and got the hell out of there.
We were all quiet on the ride home...still thinking to ourselves "holy shit, we saw metallica".  This day will go down in history.
